Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

you hear it on the breeze...

It always concerned her a little when she ventured from the safety of Iromar, and the shelter Big Wolf had come to provide for her. Considering her first adventure into the world had almost ended her it was understandable the small pup was not always the most eager to leave a place she had come to understand as home. Something in her nature prodded her to occasionally step out of the territory and explore. With every outing she became more and more confident. As her body began to grow she began to regain her sense of adventure. Every so often when Big Wolf went out for his patrols she would slip away and explore. Pine was not so naive to believe he was not fully aware of her outings, she would have been concerned if she really did slip his attention at any time. She fully trusted the giant male to watch over her. After all, he had said he would.

Paws still large, she trotted along the banks of the river, using it as a marker to find her way back. It was the same river she had followed as a starving tiny-ling into the realm of the moors. Now she moved boldly, her nose to the ground as she searched for something worthwhile on her stolen day. Her normal hunting patterns had started to slip. For a while she had been content hunting and catching frogs, trying to work on her skills. But the creatures had started to slow with the cooling weather, the challenge swiftly becoming nonexistent. She sighed in disappointment, sticking her nose into holes it did not belong. Soon the white strip that went up her face was covered in mud, blending it with the tan and brown that masked her otherwise grey face. She uttered a soft growl at the cold mud, angry with it for denying her a plaything. Black tipped ears flicked back into her chocolate brown ruff and she stepped away from the banks of the river. Now with ears and forest eyes alert and jumped into the long, dying grasses, searching for mice or rats and pouncing on any movement she found.
