Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

It felt like ages since Kinborough had really gotten the opportunity to engage in conversation with somebody else. He had been wandering for what he perceived to be months almost entirely alone. Sure, every now and again there would be another animal who would greet him. He would chitchat and collect stories from the other traveling creatures, but they seldom remained by his side.

With a slightly discontented sigh, Kinborough lay down beside a leafless bush. His eyes narrowed as he stared at the horizon. He missed being more optimistic. He thrived on being positive, but lately he had just struggled through trial after trial. It began to wear him down, and he felt lost. It was cold, hopeless, and he was hungry on a semi-daily basis.

Food was scarce, but that didn’t keep him from trying just about anything he could to prevent the painful stabbing of starvation. With a heavy, if somewhat melancholy sigh, Kinborough examined his surroundings from his position.

Small pond… There might be fish in there. I can always hope. It might be too cold, but it’s worth looking into.

It took him a few minutes really to collect himself, and motivate himself enough to move toward the water. He sat by the edge, the cold breeze cutting through him like a blade. He carefully watched the water, hoping for some small trace of something – anything – that could satiate his hunger.
