The Road Not Taken
IP: 86.7.205.150

Ah had I but known the misery Edward V would cause me I would not have set that damned question. Now I stand at the crosswords. One path leads to an apology and humility and will earn the contempt of my fellow quizzers. The other road leads to the idea that in English Law and tradition there cannot be two rightful Kinga ruling at the same time. Lancastrians claim that Henry, as the anointed monarch was illegally deposed in 1460 and therefore remained King until his death in 1471. Thus Edward's rule legally dates from 1471 and his successor is Edward V. If Yorkist Henry was legally deposed by Parliament in 1460 so Edward IV's legal rule is from 1460 to 1483 and his successor is, well I never, Edward V. But if I claim this I will be denounced as an arrogant little smartypants and earn the contempt of my fellow quizzers. I will seek counsel in Father Megson's confessional box.
