Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

holding on to what we used to be

Taika recounted her dream for me, a deeply personal experience I regard with the sort of reverence something so intimate deserves. I lay in front of her, lazy but attentive, and go to work - this is what I was born to do, quite literally. The dream comes to me and I recount what the late Speaker taught me about the dreams of others, it is a very different experience from my own. I hang on every detail I can from Taika's dream and it is over far too quickly, a beautiful experience to share nonetheless. She tilts her head, puzzling along with me. I rise from my leafy bed and move to lay my neck over her wither Oh, Taika. I'm so sorry. The light of your life, coming and going, fickle as the summer storms. You face a great uncertainty, but it is not such a thing to be feared as it is to be conquered! And you may feel as though you have forgotten the steps, but maybe the others are dancing to a different tune now. I look off, pondering the sky above, constantly in motion and always changing but following its own rhythm. I smile to my sister in need with the soft countenance of the sage I am supposed to be. Hold no malice in your heart for your fairy; it hurts you when he leaves, but know it hurts him just as much to leave you. I do not know when the tears began to well in my eyes, but they are impossible to dam, this is my first Dream reading other than my own and I am overwhelmed by the beauty of the experience. And do not fear the shadow of the unknown, for it is opportunity, a place where even you cannot see where you are headed. Harness it, and make your own path through the fields- dance to your own steps. Your fairy may come and go, and he may light your world when he enters, but do not let your world darken when he takes another partner. It is as you described- the field is full of fairies. I settle in, take a seat next to Taika. I hesitate at the reflex to lean into her the way I would Quixote, and I'm struck- I miss my own fairy, still with me but very much dancing to a different beat. I hope I helped, sister. I have been referring to myself as such since Quixote and I set out those months ago, but for the first time I truly feel it.

I am Dream Speaker
