The sound of the rain softens everything around me. The earth itself is nearly silenced as sodden leaves become malleable and soundless. Many creatures hide within the warmth and comfort of their homes as they retreat from the gloomy weather and yet I cannot help to think that it is all too beautiful for them to simply embrace. As I lap at the slow moving brook I find that the arrival of another had almost been missed entirely. I am lucky that he had no ill intentions toward me in this instance.
It is as if he had spoken from my thoughts alone as I look up to see him diagonal from me. His voice is gentle, a strange thing in comparison to how large he is, but I do not mind it.
”That it is, stranger. What is your name?” I ask him in a rather forward manner. Despite my peaceful state I am still a straightforward gal, never one to beat around the bush, and always actively seeking the answer to things I do not know.
He is quite the colorful fellow despite being nameless thus far. The mixture of creams and silvers doing him a favor in regards to his attractiveness – it may also help that his demeanor is approachable as well. Perhaps I can draw him back to Taviora with me when I choose to return. Though my mind is churning with the possibilities of this chance meeting. I shift my posture so that I may give him my full attention now, the droplets of rain tapping upon my golden skull every now and then as I sit and turn to look at him. Perhaps he could be the key to end my loneliness.
