Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Return to Lunar Children

My mind wanders, perhaps guided by her own to an extent though I should hardly have known it, my thoughts drifting about in these moments to the impossibilities of the situation that existed before us. I could never truly be with her, that much I knew, nor she with me. Her heart was already held by another, a cousin my own blood, her children my second cousins in return and indeed in so many ways this makes her family- and I have already hurt my family beyond all imagined grief. She cannot be mine and I cannot be hers and yet still I am doomed to an existence by which I may forever watch over her all the same. Zaphkiel can hardly deny me that and perhaps nor can Siren. Maybe she is not my mate, maybe I do not hold a title of sorts over her and yet Siren and I have lived as one for…some years now. I think of her as my own even if I have no right too in truth and yet I should not like to displease her as Astrid surely does not seek to displease Zaphkiel and as such it can never be- though it does not stop my mind in its wanderings.

What would it be, truly, to be with an imprint, to have her birth my children and lay beside her at night? Would this tranquillity of soul exist eternally? Or am I merely so content because we have been parted for so long? My family, Angels, for many years have become famed for the rejection of their imprints, refusing to allow fate to dictate such things until those such as my own brother, Achilles, were born without the ability to imprint at all- there are many Angels with such a fate as Heyel had dictated and yet I wonder truly how so many can turn so easily from imprints. There is much to be said of the Angel breed perhaps and yet….strength of character cannot be denied, on this I am assured. A great advantage and disadvantage all at once I should think. I allow my thoughts to wander away now, taken with her presence alone now as the fine curve of my head moves to watch her with the violet blue opalescence of my gaze. Had I known of her thoughts on Angels I may well have spoken of what I knew of them, sought to change her opinion in some way perhaps, though surely her opinion could not be too poor if she was mated to one and a truly pure one at that. My thoughts shifted once more as I asked after her children and my second cousins. I am ashamed to admit that I did not truly…..care so much for her children beyond that as any stranger might ask, I simply desired to hear her voice, ears pricked forward to capture each lyric as she offered it- some part of me finding myself pleased that her children were well- if only because it pleased her in turn. How odd I should be so affected.

A smile of sorts lifts upon my lips as she speaks of her adventurous children and off their inherited spirit, head nodding softly at such information before I sought fit to offer my own words now.

“Indeed. Cousin Zaphkiel was as Uncle Azrael before him- adventurous, or so my own Mother tells me. Angel blood does not flow quietly, perhaps this is the reason for- ah.”

I paused, briefly, catching myself before I moved to speak to far- assured such things were not of my right to speak of and indeed that Astrid surely did not care to hear it all the same. Zaphkiel, surely, spoke of family enough and I should not seek to bore her.

“I say too much, forgive me, I babble. I am well. I enjoy the spring when it comes, I like to see the young pups. I should like to have some of my own one day perhaps.”

It seemed an easy thing to speak of and yet it was something I never spoke of- her presence alone seeming to draw such inwards thoughts from myself in a manner I found alarming as she seated herself beside me and some part of myself grew elated at this closeness though I pressed for nothing closer as of yet. The matter of our first meeting was quickly dismissed and I was glad of it, her thoughts on Zaphkiel seeing my eyes rise slightly as she spoke of bears and cougars. I have never been…good at sarcasm and if it was desired to be sarcastic it was lost upon me.

“Why should he chase a bear? That is a fools ploy.”

My tail flicked in some dissatisfaction, features frowning curiously before I dismissed it although why Zaphkiel should go about chasing predators five times his size I hardly know, my attention drawn by Astrid now as she asked after my Siren, surprise lingering that she should know of her. Perhaps our minds were more connected then I knew.

“Yes, she has lived with me for a long time now, she has good days and bad but nothing that cannot be handled. When you….care for someone you will do what you must for them and it pleases me to see her happy, so I work to achieve that. We are rarely apart, she is sleeping now though, I will be sure to return before she wakes. Has Zaphkiel taken you to Diveen?”

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
