Denali had been one of the quietest members of Iromar, especially after Kaius had attacked many many seasons ago. He was dead and she was at peace but she still could not shake all of the mental trauma he had put her through. Luckily Astaroth was always there: to keep her safe, to comfort her when she had nightmares, to remind her that everything was going to be okay. He kept her whole, kept her sane when it felt like she might fall apart. Her demon was the greatest thing to ever happen to her, sure they had had their moments, but through it all they had grown close. They were something more than soul mates, but her mind could not find the right word. She had confessed her love to him and he had offered her a happy ending, a forever. He was her prince charming, or not so charming sometimes. He had saved her in more ways than he could ever imagine and she wanted to give him the world, and she fully intended to do so.
Just because she had been quite lately, did not mean she was inactive or not doing her job. Quite often, she wandered the borders, making sure that all was peaceful in the swamps. She was the raptor, the top thief in the pack, and thus she was as quiet and allusive as a shadow. A lot of times she went out with Astaroth, but sometimes she wandered by herself. Today was one of those rare days where she was not with her demon, having left him slumbering in the den, but not before placing a gentle kiss atop his forehead before slipping out. It was a peaceful winter day, the air cool but it never seemed to get quite as cold in the swamps as it did everywhere else. The alligators were never more lazy and quiet than in winter, and so she felt safe to wander close to the waters edge, not fearing the reptiles; although she did not fear them anyway, they learned to respect their neighbors on the land in return for respect for them, only the young ones tried their luck from time to time to snatch a young, unsuspecting pup, but it never went over well with the pack.
Quietly she moved through swamp land, not really having any given destination in mind. Walking helped her clear her mind and keep her fit, and so she did it quite often, only rarely leaving the pack lands as she could not deny the small amount of fear Kaius had permanently instilled within in her. One day she'd have to go out, to find her friend Enderly and her niece on the mountains. Her other niece had found her way back to moladion and into Iromar, Denali had seen her around but never approached, too scared perhaps on what the girl would think or if she retained any of her fathers demeanor. One day she would have to go talk to the girl, to let her know she had more family than she thought and let her decide what form of a relationship they would have from there, but for now the tiny female was too uncertain to approach her. Denali quickly shook her head and the thoughts from it, settling on thinking of other things as she walked. She could use some company on her walk, if only someone was walking close by.
