But for the sounds of the falls filling her ears the tawny mare might have leapt from her skin at the hiss that slipped into the air. However caught deep in her thoughts and with the thundering of the falls in dominance it passed unknown. Ears peeked towards the waters, twitching occasionally as a droplet rolled along the fine dark hairs. Mind caught in the spiral of thoughts of the stallion some of her original panic began to ease just by the warmth the kindness his memory sparked within her. Each time her thoughts began to stray back to the possibility that might have been growing within her however that seed of nerves began to sprout and grow once more. Each time one was eased another bloomed in its place until a deep sigh left her. There were no certainties, not yet. But plenty of maybe's and what if's.

Finally a noise cut through the swirl of thoughts, the clearing of a throat before a strangers voice spilled out commanding Amica's attention instantly. Limp dark tendrils of her mane were tossed as her head swung about, turning in the direction her ears tracked those tones. Stones clattered as hooves shifted nervously beneath her sending loose pebbles clattering away into the blur that surrounded her. Too distracted. She had let her thoughts wrap her up and steal her away. She knew better than that. For years the mare had had to take so much more care than many treading out alone, keeping to the borders, skirting around herds and seeking no company to ease her lonely heart. And suddenly in a few moons of change she had felt more acceptance than she had known since her mother’s protective side. But that was no reason for her to let her guards drop. Wary steps and an alert mind were all that had kept her whole but for the scattering of scars marring her gilded hide. Here the young mother and daughter that had taken her into their company were not by her side. Here the stallion that distracted her thoughts so was so far away.

"Hello..?" More of a question than a greeting the word echoed from her own dark lips as clouded eyes scanned left to right and back again. Searching, searching, ever searching. Against the shadows and light that slipped through the air and clung to the sides of the falls she failed to locate the stranger who had spoken. But they were there. On the damp air she caught the females scent now her attention was focused, but to be unable to locate her drew an uneasy flick of her tail across her sides sending droplets flying through the cool air. "This is quite a place isn't it?" she uttered conversationally, an attempt to draw another sound from her unseen acquaintance in an effort to narrow down their whereabouts.
