Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Her breathy tones echoed his name, and a small smile of encouragement crept upon his features. It is in that moment that her eyes seemed to truly focus, to grasp the reality of what was happening and could very well have happened if he hadn't been there. Almost immediately her head ducked away, sheltering her still damp face from the frigid air that was inescapable out here in the open. Glancing over his shoulder while she was curled in on herself, Sleekwing looked out across the powdery landscape in search of some form of shelter. He was not as familiar with the fields that edged the eastern side of Ruieze Lake as the crags to the west. For now, it would seem, the shelter his body offered would have to be enough.

When his eyes returned to her he found her with lids shut once more, but in a more relaxed manner. As much as he wanted to let her rest, sleep could be the worst thing for her right now. She might never wake up, especially if she had hit her head and suffered a concussion. So he asked after her name, anything to keep her lucid and reinforce his belief that she was okay. As she looked up at him he felt a renewed worry for her state; she seemed more out of it than she had moments before. There had to be something more he could do. She stuttered her name against the shivers that still racked her body. "Adelia," he echoed, offering his voice as further encouragement to answer his second question. A flower upon the island had drawn her out onto the ice, or so she said. Sleekwing did not have to look to know there were no flowers upon the islet this time of year. It was blanketed with snow, just as the surrounding landscape was. He wondered if the cold already affected her before she'd ever fallen through the ice; did she have a home, a den to keep her warm against the brutal winter weather? She confirmed her memory of having fell through the ice, her words soft and barely audible as she seemed to curl even tighter in on herself.

"Its okay-" he begins to say, wanting to offer her comfort in these moments, but he is cut off as she suddenly stands. Quick to follow, he is on his feet, watching her as she stretches, keen to notice if anything seemed swollen or otherwise obviously injured. He was no healer, but he knew those skilled in the trade lived in the closest pack - Diveen, an ally of the mountain. When she moved away from him he lifted a paw to follow, but then set it back down in the snow. If she needed a moment to herself, she should have it. Instead, he stepped back from the slight indent in the snow where they had laid, his brows furrowing slightly at the predicament of their lack of true shelter giving him an idea. As Adelia shook away as much of the moisture from her fur as she could, Sleekwing quickly dug at the snow, deepening the hollow in the powder and piling up a slight ridge to the east to block them from the cold as best he could.

Glancing up from his work he watched as she paced circles, and when she moved to rejoin him he was quick to lie back down and offer his warmth to her once more. The slight embankment of snow was at his back, and he was quick to curl around her once more as she lay back down. Once more she apologized, and Sleekwing shook his head lightly back and forth, listening to her words before replying. She still seemed to be in a bit of shock over the ordeal, which was fair. "Its okay, Adelia. You are safe now. You're safe." And he would make sure that she walked away from this in one piece, whole and healthy, if not a little changed by what had happened.
