Dance to a Faerie's Fiddle

Taytim loved her children with every drop of blood in her veins and more with every beat of her heart. Watching them grow had helped her learn more about the life she had been raised to know. When she had first come to the islands she had been young, nearly naive. A heart full of adventure with a bit of feist, she had set out to make her mother and father proud. Still a wandering spirit, she thought of the two foals she bore and smiled to herself. A life-time away, she knew her parents would be proud of the spirits that now ran through the earth.

It was that sentiment exactly that had the mare sighing with relief as she stepped through the trails of the falls. The energy that filled her life and filled her children was exhausting at the most calm of times. Whenever the two decided to team up, she knew she was going to have a hectic day. Or week. She trusted them enough to know better than to get into serious trouble, but that did not stop her from also wanting to be part of their adventure! Even so, with Taika running around as she did, and Ailill set to create his name, it was nice to have a moment of peace to herself. Even though one of those moments of peace led her to knowing she was going to have yet another blaze of energy at her heels come spring. Still, she thought as she walked through the short grass, nosing at it under the leaves with her soft lips. A season of peace before the winter hits, a time to recharge could have been just what the world ordered.

A deep and heavy sigh blew through the chocolate chestnut woman. The sun shined down and warmed her dark hide against the autumn chill. She grazed contentedly on the last bits of the sweet grass, letting her mind wander to the far off places she had yet to explore, and wondering if she would get a chance this season before the snows hit. At her reflection in the whispering streams she smiled. One day she would be able to have the time to travel as she had always dreamed. Taika would probably make sure of it.

Movement to the side startled the mare, her head shooting up in surprise, ears trained on the stallion who had stirred out of the shadows. Naturally, the mare smiled and turned to face him, her expression friendly. Two years ago it would have been a face of youth. Now it had the air of a little more maturity, but the energy and kindness still beamed from her eyes like rays of the sun.

“Good morning, sir! It is a beautiful day to visit the falls, is it not?”
