Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Cold….

That was all he had known since she passed away. An endless cold and lonliness setting into his very being. He was empty… broken beyond repair. She wanted him to live on, be happy, but that felt impossible. All his children checked on him regularly since her death. It was nearly the end of summer a full two seasons since she finally passed away leaving him howling and struggling to even move with the tearing he felt from her soul parting ways with his. It was unfathomable being ripped apart and feeling this way. He couldn’t do anything, he couldn’t even describe it in either of his languages this broken dark feeling that just wouldn’t go away. Moth was gone the grief still settling into him and never leaving. He knew he would never leave her… not ever. Maybe her spirit was still among them, that was the beliefs of the man but if it were truly that way why did he feel this way? Time was something he couldn’t protect her from, the only thing that could ever threaten to truly take her away. He couldn’t stop it even though he had been trying to prepare himself for years nothing could ever prepare anyone for the feeling he had when she exhaled her last breath and her eyes closed for the last time. Nothing.

Hell was probably a good word for what he survived. He wanted to die with her, and for a few days he thought he would. His children needed him, she wanted him to stay… that was the only thing that kept him clinging on to this world without her, shuddering in his den barely seeing the light of day just clinging to the last ounces of her scent that remained there. Sage… lavender the soft perfume of herbs she used during their earlier days together. Perhaps some might have thought him mad, but he wasn’t just broken and a shadow of the wolf he once was. He hadn’t even spoken in English since her demise. Reverting back to being nearly incapable of speaking the English tongue that Moth had slowly taught him over their time together. He didn’t need English though, all of his visitors where his children and grandchildren, all of them knew his native tongue and easily could converse with him. Slowly that language was slipping away again leaving him to lose those bits he had spent years slowly mastering gone in a matter of months.

Today though… something was strange. Something called him out of his den area for the first time in months that wasn’t simply food, he could feel it… them pushing him up and out of the den. His form was gaunt, much slimmer than it was in the old days, he still had a limp in his step as he left the den in search of whatever that called him. Fate’s weren’t done with him today, they wanted him to move. Always fate had an ulterior motive for doing things they did and as he hobbled his way slowly across the forest he thought he could smell something… familiar. It wasn’t Moth, but a friend, also dead and gone into the spirit realm to his knowledge… almost all of them were now. Sen, he had heard also passed, Hush was missing or perhaps gone as well then Fathom gone too after giving birth to her children she was forced to have… It was… Fathom he was sure of it. He moved towards the scent but he did not see her form, he didn’t see anyone in fact.

Dulled eyes scanned the forests he used to protect, and seeing nothing he took it as a sign that it was time to go back until he heard the rustling of paws on leaves. He stopped cream and brown form moving a bit further. Pushing bushes slowly out of the way of his lumbering form until he saw it. A puppy. Alone out here, fur black as night but silver and cold furs pricking up and eyes the same jade green as his fallen friend. Fathom and Moth were with him… and he felt like a fool for not ever believing that their spirits still guided him along. His eyes watered at the sight of the little glint of hope this child’s arrival had given him. His scent was mixed up and he could see him gazing back with wonder.

”I… sorry.” The brute said though I wasn’t to the child, it was to Moth and Fathom. He was doing them a great injustice these past few months. Hiding away and not believing they were still with him. He wanted them to forgive him. ”Little one… lost? Coza here. Take care of you… promise.” He said to him a soft smile coming to his maw with tear filled eyes. He wanted to help the little one, he didn’t know yet that he was lost, that he didn’t’ remember anything but in a few short days he would. Coza knew exactly what he would call him too. Cenmatl… Fathom in his native tongue. It was perfect for him. He knew she was blood in him and he would raise him as she wanted to have her own children raised.

It was time to live again. For Moth, Fathom, Cenmatl and his children and grandchildren…. He had let them all down and now it was time for him to make up for the time he had lost in doubt. Still his soul felt broken, but this was his first step towards slowly getting past having a shattered soul.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
