The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.
All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.
Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Halina's head was fuzzy and she shook it a few times to try to clear her vision, but instead, that only made everything go blurry once again. Her cranium throbbed with each pulse, and she felt as if her temperature was rising steadily, but she ignored the pain and tried to find the two Cougars that were threatening to steal ownership of Abendrot. It was luck and only luck that had allowed Halina to blind the femme. She had wanted to blind both orbs' vision, to keep the femme from being able to see the vargs for the targets that they were, but if the cougar had not thrown Halina off, she would have missed both of her targets. Slowly, the eboness rose to her feet, her balance unsteady, as her dark oceans finally found the battle that was raging on in front of her, without her. Mabbit and Grey Wind were both focused on the brute, while Kershov and Azula were both still upon the fae. A burning sensation finally registered in her chest and she realized that the wind had been stolen from her lungs and she had yet to take a breath. Opening her airways, sweet oxygen rushed in, and immediately Halina winced - she had either severely bruised a rib or one had been cracked when she had crashed against the wall. Slowing her breathing, she focused on taking breaths from her abdomen to prevent the amount that her ribs expanded, and found that slow, shallow breaths greatly reduced the amount of pain. That was good knowledge... For after the battle. Holding her breath to focus, she launched back into battle, keeping low to the ground to prevent detection and circled around back of the two Cougars, taking advantage of the fact that they were focused upon the vargs in the front, and could only hope that her comrades were fast enough to evade the Cougars' attacks. Though this gave her advantage, for the Cougars were not focusing on her, it did not give her good access to any of their vulnerable parts. Even if she did, Halina doubted that she would be able to hit the marks accurately with her blurred vision. And so, instead, she leapt quietly, aiming to land directly on the femme's back. Her maw opened and she tried to grab her scruff for a hold so that she could scratch long streaks down the cougaress' back with her hind limbs.
