The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

& I'LL SAY IT'S TOO LATE
YOU'VE SUMMONED THE DEVIL WITHIN ME

Everything had changed. My entire life was now turned upside down and I can’t figure out how to right it again. The family I had once known was now torn into a million pieces, myself and my half-sister finding residence in this river-fed pack for now. Kairos had disappeared into oblivion and that is what troubled me the most. The only full blood sister that I had just abandoned me and now I had this half-breed taking care of me in a pack I didn’t even like. I’m not even sure why she had brought me here with her, perhaps out of pity for killing our mother, taking the only life-bearing source from me so early on. I didn’t know and I had kept quiet ever since she had dragged me all the way here.

I rarely left the den beneath the tree roots and often only laid at the edge of it to watch the goings on around the river. But this time was different. I was tired of being a captive in Glorall and Bellatrix couldn’t keep me here if she tried. A small, ghastly figure moves like a beacon in the night and draws my attention rather quickly. I jump up from the entrance of the den and immediately begin to follow the girl at a distance, my darker coat blending perfectly with the darkness that encompassed us.

I had not known where she was heading to but it became clear that it was nowhere within the territory as she so easily stepped over the borders and continued on into uncharted lands. I kept following her until these lands became familiar and soon there were the looming shadows of the crags coming into view beneath the moonlight. Snow brightens the scenery and nearly masks the pale girl against the backdrop but my eyes catch her fleeting figure disappear into the caverns beneath the mountain of rocks. Without hesitation I pursue her further and keep my nose close to the ground to track her down as she has finally escaped my line of sight.

A heavy huff is breathed through flared nostrils as her scent becomes stronger and then her path dies off. I keep my coal black nose to the earth as I search around the general area of which her aroma is the strongest and yet I do not find her. Another snort of derision is given before I trail the scent toward particular wall and then a crevasse within it, nares twitching as I poke my muzzle in and find that she lies deep within. I look at her dead on with eyes of gold and green, unwilling to speak to this small wraith as she curls upon herself in the confines of the fissure. I have found my prize and now what should I do with it?
