OK so this *is* straight out of my favorite book (ish...I think I changed them slightly), but I love them and think they'd make a great addition to Shaman. This is not a contest entry, just a general non-judged entry :)
Vesta Description: Vesta bear a strong physical resemblance to Roosevelt Elk. Tall and regal, they are essentially a very large white deer, with broad golden antlers, 3-toed hooves, and deep purple, pupil-less eyes. It is speculated that Vesta do not see in the way most mammals do, but more study is required. They stand about 2 m. tall at the shoulders, and can weigh over 600 kg.
Vesta are not sexually dimorphic: males and females look essentially identical, and are very difficult to differentiate from a distance. They are usually solitary, but can form small family groups, especially in deep winter. They are extremely shy and rarely seen – sightings tend to occur in rough weather, and are considered a good omen.
Diet: Herbivorous; primarily subsists on leaves and grasses
Habitat: Vesta prefer altitude and cold, and thus are usually found in high mountains, venturing further toward sea level only in deep winter
