She had found herself exploring Spirane again, deciding today to explore her mountain home instead of the lands outside. Samus had had some grand adventures in the first year of her life, and now that she was nearing being a yearling she knew that there were only more adventures to come. And so in the early morning she had slipped out of the den with practiced ease, leaving her siblings and parents snoozing while snow fell softly across the mountains. It was not as if she didn't enjoy spending time with her family, but she had tasted independence and craved it. Samus was much like her mother in this regard, who would often take the mountains or the free lands to escape her responsibilities. Perhaps it was not the most mature thing to do, but it was how she was, and her daughter respected her greatly for it.

After all, what fun was there in being a disciplinarian? Samus and her siblings were turning out just fine, she thought, even though Taliesin might have something else to say about that. Although she was lovely and smart and kind, Samus was a troublemaker through-and-through, a wild child born of mountain blood. There would always be that streak within her, and it was unlikely that it would mellow out with time. It was more likely that she would turn out like her mother, never wanting to grow up.

Samus loped through the snow, the flakes dappling her raven-black coat as her long, slender legs stretched out over the white-covered terrain. Her ears pricked forward as she saw another girl through the falling snow. The girl giggled as she flopped down, and Samus figured that she would wander over and find out if this girl might want to play with her in the snow.

"Havin' trouble?" Samus asked with a laugh as the girl flailed around on the ground. She flopped down next to her, wriggling around in the cold snow. "My name's Samus. Who're you?" She truly cared little for common courtesy beyond introductions, simply wanting to jump right into play- but now they were both on the ground, so there was little play to be had. A problem that would need to be immediately rectified.
