Raven was feeling a little less than her normally confident self. Eben (she thought that was what he had 'introduced' himself as - if one could call it that) had pulled her into the ring as soon as he had recognized her as another pirate from their local watering hole. She had never fought with him, and was unsure where his level of confidence came from, because she certainly had nothing in her arsenal to equal the elemental powers of even the one aja she saw. Swallowing her fear, she pulled her kukri knives from her waist band and prepared for a physical fight, hair braided and tied up to keep it from being a useful handle. Calypso growls in encouragement, ready to test her new claws and size against these puny ponies. When Eben ran into Arkose's aja, which they had not known was there Calypso jumps in, swinging in close quarters, staying close enough to renders its invisibility less useful, and keep it busy fighting a large engraged bear rather than helping in other parts of the fights. She bites down on its neck, shaking as if she has just grabbed a seal's neck up from the water, bloody scratches showing where her claws haved scored on the beast's flesh. Raven turns away to focus on going after Scoria. You ain't got it in you! says the small voice in her mind. Or is it her mind? There is an odd edge to it. Just a little girl the voice chuckles, and she realizes it is one of the weapons the enemy is using. Her eyes narrow as she advances. Scoria dodges back and forth, seeming to melt and blend swiftly. She manages only small scratches across his arms and shoulders, dogging him back and forth, when she realizes Arkose has scored on the familiars, the two aja included. And Eben. And he is shooting her a deadly look as if it is all her fault. She sighs internally. It is taking too much of her attention to chase Scoria, with little to no results following. She feels the smirking from Scoria telepathically. Now Raven is angry. Why was it her fault he hadn't dodged? Had she even had any say about this battle? She focuses on Arkose, who is focused on reloading his gadget so he can shoot another round into Eben or Calypso. Raven thrusts low with the curved blade, catching him in the side and opening a decent gash. Take out the weak one first and then perhaps they can both go for the strong one. If they can. She sees Eben getting frustrated by what must be telepathic taunts she cannot hear. But the man had already thrown something that smelled of sulphur and a familiar stench that often was associated with the opening of a tunnel, and before she could do more damage she needed Calypso safe. "Calypso!" she shouted, sure the white bear was in a rage, still mauling the Lunar Aja, perhaps even blaming her for the shots on her backside, was in a rage and might not easily be alerted. She is right. It takes much mental prodding, and physical yelling to get the bear to notice. And she barely has time to get away before being thrown hard to the ground by the blast. She gets up shaking her head. I can't hear she says plaintively in Raven's mind, and Raven curses, hoping the damage isn't permanent. It is obvious Calypso is still dizzy, and Raven isn't feeling too swift herself. Arkose is grinning. She scowl and races back at him, slashing at his chest and front, not allowing him to pick up any of his long range weaopons. But her back is unguarded with Calypso still out of it, and the invisible aja (or red streaked now) catches her off balance with a charge, knocking the wind out of her. When she caught her breath she yelled. "Eben! Get up!" He'd gotten her into this mess, he could at least get her out. She circles towards Arkose again, keeping an eye on the Aja as Calypso starts to bat at Nightmare, though the dark aja seems to taunt her, dodging in and out of shadows instead of being where the bear would expect. "Come on!" she growls, low. More at herself than anyone in particular. "Not so useful, that boy of yours" the Scoria voice jabs again. She is aware it is trying to hurt her, but it has picked the wrong barb this time. Eben isn't hers, and she doesn't care if he is useless. Or at least doesn't except for the fact they are in this fight. She turns and hurls her Kukri. Not a highly efficient move, since the knife is not well weighted for throwing. But she is within ten feet of Scoria, so the knife hits, though it has probably only caused a flesh wound and now she has lost one of her weapons. Raven is breathing heavily, frustrated by the fact these two are more than a match for them by her reckoning, unless Eben pulled some pretty trick out of his sleeve. She sees Calypso fighting tirelessly still, and decides she can't give up until the match is over, no matter how futile the battle. How ironic for two pirates, more prone to running away when the fighting got tough, to be locked in this stupid contest. |
