Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

edrick - five - loner - taika's mate - neverland's soul

It had been a hard winter for Edrick. He had found love, broken a heart, and came to the conclusion that the scent of winter on a woman was the most disagreeable thing ever. It tempted him to things that he was not ready for, that she was not ready for, that the world was not ready for. The Faerie King was not ready for his own princes and princesses. In fact, it was an adjustment to find himself cozy in a den at night with his own mate nestled down next to him. Alone time was a thing of the past and it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. It stopped him from wondering about his mother and father and brothers, a goal he had set aside for another time while he spent precious time with her. Her scent was intoxicating and not just because of the winter. He loved her. How strange it was to say the word, to form it across his lips, yet he had said it softly in the night when she laid against him, her fur soft as he pressed his nose into it.

Edrick felt more at ease now that he had finally made a decision. Finally stopped being a coward and had chosen what he wanted. It hurt, at first, that doing so had been at the expense of his soul. Her pain was the most poignant out of it all, the way she had run, and then he had felt angry at the appearance of Taika's imprint. A jealousy that consumed him and he had been less than generous with the male since then, giving him a stony silence and a few pointed looks whenever he overstepped his bounds. He didn't think the other male gave a rats ass what he thought but it made him feel better to do it anyways.

He slept even as she rises and sneaks away, using the power of the fae to become one with the snow. It is her absence that eventually drives him to wakefulness, his head snapping up and his heart kick starting when he realizes he is alone. "Taika?" He questions the air, pushing up abruptly and darting out with his tail stiff and his nostrils flaring. "Taika?" He fears for her suddenly, a coldness spreading over him as he remembers being a pup and Sven disappearing. Heimdallr returning fully blind. The fear, the worry, the loss.

Not Taika! He spots paw prints in the snow and takes off, following their winding trail with a swiftness that does little to ease his tension until he spies her brighter figure jumping at the ice at the riverside. Relief floods him, loosening his muscles, but he doesn't slow as he races towards her. Crunch, crunch, crunch, his paws racing across the snow as he runs and then jumps up, planning to knock her down - gently, of course - and nip into her belly if she falls. "Don't ever run off like that again, you hear me?" He grumbles into her fur, sighing in happiness.
