Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

The snow crunched softly underfoot whispering of his passing. The air was alive with the intermingled scents of the coming spring and the tantalizing presence of females biologically prepared for the sown seeds of the season – even if some may not have quite reached mental maturity yet. Quixote managed an air of calm and control when it was he and Coquette travelling together – after all, this had been his idea. He thought it would be a good way to reintroduce his dear sister to what their culture had stolen from her, and he assuaged her nervousness by volunteering himself to the event as well. It had been easy at the time, but now that his sister has split for the female group leaving him to travel the rest of the way on his own, it became harder to hide the antsy energy in his steps. There was excitement too, of course, but Quixote held practically no experience at courting, and the thought of Paisley nesting in her den spurred a type of anxiety he never before experienced.

He was moments, seconds even, away from abandoning the whole ordeal and fleeing back to the comfort of the ones he already knew and cared about – but then, finally, the group came into sight. Well, too late to get cold feet (ha) now! He trotted over doing his best to transform the jitteriness of butterflies in his stomach into something a little more dignified. He arrived just in time to catch their matchmaker’s words. What he liked in a girl? It wasn’t something he had spared a lot of thought to, he had always been so… focused on his goals, so much so that it had acted as blinders for the more simple things like flirting and fantasy. He sat, carefully considering the words of his peers before it came his turn. "I haven’t really thought about it too much, if you can believe that." He chuckled as he readjusted his seat. "I suppose I find myself most attracted to curiosity? Or maybe it’s wit. I like a bit of mystery, someone who can provide me with a perspective I may have never considered."
