The pup was refreshing, to say the least. She seemed to hide no inner motives, no desire to be false. Nothing but a bubbly personality that the russet wolf found herself drawn to. She found a slight smile tugging at the corners of her lips. How long had it been since she had last smiled so easily?
A shame, it didn’t seem to be coming to her. A while, then.
But then the young wolf is chattering again and Vaya dutifully turns her ears to best catch all the words. It seemed the young wolf had quite the lineage and history in this land. Vaya knew where her parents lived (well, kind of) but she had never met her grandparents. Or even knew their names. Her parents weren’t exactly the sharing kind, unlike those of Moonstone.
“It was a lot like here, actually. Lots of trees and steep slopes. Chilly, but lovely for it. For a moment her voice is wistful, but she moves past it a bit faster this time.
The next words out of the pup make her pause and really think for a minute. Did the past make her sad? Maybe a little. She missed having her place… Belonging. But truthfully, she was almost more comfortable with Moonstone than she had been with her own family. She wanted to keep talking, to savour this small friendship. Even if it didn’t last long. Her soul longed for friends, for companionship.
“Why the stars? Why do they make you feel better? Her voice is filled with curiosity. She had never really considered the stars before. They were little lights, like fireflies that came at night.
It had never occurred to her to think of them as more.
