Re(2): Listener 4376 - Trapped by 'Eck

I thought it was an excellent puzzle, probably the most challenging since Yorick's Hefbeet (there's the Hamlet connection). 17d, 22d,and 26d were very tough nutshells to crack. Like Phil I plumped for Agatha Christie at first, not having DANE, as I had a perfectly justifiable G as the extra letter in 7d (I also picked the wrong alternative in 3d).
The endgame was just right - not too much grid searching and a neat depiction of the theme, all clearly signposted.

Re Phil's comments on other sites, they are no substitute for Derek's forum. One site confines comments to generalities to avoid giving away any secrets; another seems to exist simply to give away answers and themes on a plate, not to appraise. Judging by the outrage on this forum when the existence of a Listener thread on Answerbank was first noted, I wouldn't think that many former contributors here would visit the site, let alone comment, so it would be nice to see some of those people contributing here again.
