Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

STAND WHERE WE'VE BEEN (vaya)

You ask where will we stand in the winds that will howl,
as all we see will slip into the cloud

It was not an entirely conscious sensation that pulled Viserion away from the mountain that cool spring evening. He'd been wandering farther and farther down the mountain all day, until finally he stepped across the borders and jogged off into the east with the sun quickly slipping out of sight behind the mountains at his back. With each passing month he grew closer to maturity, and at three years of age he had adopted the streamlined appearance that he would hold for the duration of his life. His face still harbored the barest of youthful curves, betraying his true age to those who paid close enough attention, but his molten gold eyes seemed wise beyond his years. Behind those eyes were a mind that never stopped working, the gears of thought constantly turning and revolving around a multitude of subjects all at once. But the more distance he put between himself and his home the more those thoughts honed in on one particular entity- his imprint.

When the gathering he and his sister had hosted the previous spring had begun to break up, the majority of the attendees beginning their treks back to their respective homes, Viserion had lost track of the tri-colored girl whom had so captivated his attention in the latter portions of the event. A full year had come to pass without him having sought out her individual company. Truth be told, Viserion had not fully realized the bond that had formed between them at first. It was only after he realized she was gone and how strongly he craved for her to return that he'd acknowledged just what had happened. He'd mused over it with his brothers, and had earned amused scoffs from Rhaegal. She was certainly not what the trio had envisioned for themselves in boyhood banter, but Viserion felt the urge to know more about her nevertheless.

Without the slightest idea of where to begin looking for her, the golden dragon simply followed his feet, trekking across the landscape that was once more budding with green. Twilight cast a dark purple haze across the lands as he stepped within the towering trees of Enocra. Almost as soon as he was completely engulfed by the darkness of the forest he knew this was not where he would find her. But his lack of previous exploration of the area held his interest. While the mountains of Spirane were plenty well wooded, Viserion had never been so completely blocked off from free flowing views of the sky. It was an odd sensation to him, and he found himself frequently glancing up to the darkened canopy above as he paced through the unknown woodland.

He was brought to a standstill in the middle of the forest as his golden eyes turned towards the sky once more. From the utter darkness came a brilliant glow, nature's celebration of a new year - the northern lights. It was not the first time the young dragon had witnessed the spectacle of beautiful colors painting the sky, but from within the forest they were broken up into a kaleidoscope of intricate patterns, and he found himself enraptured. The forest, the sky, the world; Viserion found appreciation in all the natural wonders of the world.
