Yours sincerely..

Had he been one for such blatant displays of emotions he might have allowed a sigh to lift and escape his dark sides. Another. Another who chose to linger at his side when evidently the stallion was hardly one that wished for companionship. Why he simply could not understand. Did they search for a knight in shining armour? For his armour was the shadows that fled with the night and kept him a step away from their lives. Comfort? Even when he made that weak attempt it seemed so puny and meaningless despite the thanks he had been offered. Or just conversation.. as it appeared this dark lady wished to engage in now. For a brief moment he was allowed the belief that his short answers would be clear enough he had nothing to offer. And then her words spilled forth once again forcing back his attention.

Ears twitched, small precise motions flickering to the falls and back to the happy tones. She puzzled him. And he did not like being puzzled. Did not like feeling enough to like or dislike! Avangeline's loneliness had called to his own, the akhal teke duo had nudged a sense of duty he had long forgotten. But this mare? A low snort expelled as his silent gaze swept over her, noting the flush of colour that had hide under the shadows of the fading night, colour staining her sides now beneath the light that grew stronger by the minute.

She was too... happy. The dark stallion was far from accustomed to spending time about anyone so upbeat. As she moved his head tilted but a fraction, ears keeping track of her more than his vision as she left it one side to slip back in the other. One hind hoof left the ground and stamped back down, an unconscious show of his confusion as he quelled the thoughts drifting through, giving just a shake of his thick coal black mane.

Should he speak? Remain quiet? He drew a silent breath of the moisture laden air, locking his gaze back upon the glittering waters. Too much he was being forced to rise up from the comforting emptiness and consider those about him of late. He needed to rise up from it just enough to pay a little more attention to his surroundings, just enough to be able to turn and slip away when another made their appearance. If he made his exit before any exchange was made then half the problem was sorted. But it was too late now. He was stuck with this friendly little mare who did not seem put off in the slightest by his lack of responses. "You speak as one without the weight of pains." Strange words, he recognised that before he even finished uttering them. But there, they were said. A dead weight within them.
