sing the song with the heart of the people
The mystery of Eden might never be one she could solve but Natu had studied him from afar, watched as he trained. He kept an almost single-minded focus about him that was a good trait in a King, perhaps, but she wasn't yet sold. While she had worked her way up the rank she had considered if this was the best place for her against her other options. Diveen had been opened to her by Heyel's family and it was certainly an entertaining idea, but she had found she quite liked the sound of the ocean breaking against the shore. The wolves here had not been unkind thus far and her children seemed to love the seaside. They were making friends and she would not move them if she need not. Besides, her curiosity is what drives her. There is something uncanny about Eden that she had noted the first day, a resemblance of something she cannot put her paw on, and each time she meets with him she is trying to figure out what he conceals behind his facade.
Natu remains still when he turns, fluid and all-knowing, and she lets her icy eyes peer into him with that keen intelligence she liked to think she was known for. Her days as Spider of Spirane were long past but that did not mean she didn't retain the same qualities. Eden is quick to answer just as he is quiet to listen. It is a trait that speaks of his own canniness and she wonders if that is what throws her off. Those who listen more than they speak are often the most dangerous for they retain information otherwise withheld. He tests her then, her knowledge at least, and she ponders for only a second. "I have heard rumors that Cael is no longer in the mountains and I have not heard of any change in rank otherwise so I would recommend Taviora. I know that the King's sister was a skilled healer and her daughter was following in her footsteps. The Queen there is also learned somewhat in the healing arts." Moth had been too, she thinks with a sadness, for the old wolf had passed on and she had heard the keening of her mate. It creates a sort of shadow of worry inside of her that coalesces into memories of Fenrir's sad looks he had been giving her, that almost goodbye in his eyes that she refused to see.
There is suspicion in his voice and it sharpens her face as she latches onto it, wondering if he didn't know more than he is letting on. How did one confront an Alpha of such a thing anyways? She had heard no rumors that a pale wolf like Eden was out causing chaos and with a discreet sniff she verifies that there is no residual scent of wolfs blood upon him. That meant little though, so she would keep an eye on him. "I believe that the fallen Queen Jaidah is among them, but I had heard little else about them." Her voice holds a note of regret for not having more information and yet she still watches him like a hawk for it was known Jaidah was housed here for a short time before she took her leave.
"It is a disgusting thing," she says bluntly at his words, seating herself and fairly glowering at the idea. "These wolves are mad, I think, for they claim to crave the flesh of wolf yet they are wolves themselves. If I didn't know any better I would suspect that something had died in the waters near Asteraia to cause this but I have lived there before and I have only the intense craving for normal prey." It was a slight jest at her bulging belly as well, a faint grin touching her lips. "Where do you come from Eden? I am sorry for the frankness, but there is very little known about you. Why did you decide to take over Glorall?"
