Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Dragonfly had only ever been taught to wonder and thus saw no benefit to a formal, stagnant group. She was quite aware of the tameness of many pack wolves; they were content and generally very secure. She was drawn to that about pack wolves, but was wary of it as well. They seemed very attached to each other in a way she was sure was unhealthy. Anything that led the mind to thinking murder was a form of affection or protection was clearly wrong in some way. She just had yet to figure out how. That aside, she certainly didn’t view packs as evil; they were just an enigma she didn’t understand yet. She might, one day if a pack wolf could spare a few hours of conversation with a gypsy. Perhaps even later today, she’d find some kindly fellows to enlighten her.

For now, though, she must be the all knowing clairvoyant, and she pretended as she waited for her first costumer that the wind was taking its sweet time to bring her a wolf to read because it was meant that she must reflect upon her prejudice for a moment. And alas! The moment she thought about it being fated, her first costumer trotted to her with a healthy squirrel clutched in her young jaws. She appeared to be just over two! Dragonfly waved her tail joyfully at her peer; it was always exciting to meet wolves her age! They all seemed to be tucked away elsewhere whenever she was around.

Zelda seemed like a timid wolf with the slight nervousness about her green eyes. That girlish grin gave Dragonfly all she needed to know to tell a fortune about; now it was up to her stones and skull to tell her whether or not the fortune would be a good or a bad one. Dragonfly dropped one of her shoulders while she lifted her other and she waved a paw out at Zelda in an adoring way as she replied, “Aye! Please step into the roots. I am Dragonfly - nice to make your acquaintance, Zelda.”

Dragonfly cleverly scooped the squirrel behind her to be protected by the tree trunk as she invited Zelda into the half circle of roots with tilt of her head. She turned and picked up her four devices with her mouth. Dragonfly shook her head like she was shaking a toy and let the objects in her mouth roll around. Then, she pinned them with her tongue to the roof of her mouth while she pivoted three times around, lifting and lowering her head. She dropped the three stones and the skull into the ring she’d lifted them out of.

The stones dropped away from each other, whilst the rat’s skull landed flat, head up. Dragon cooed out in interest, “Oh my!” Dragonfly sat back and huffed out as she pinned Zelda with a fretful gaze, “You’re in for quite the dramatics - as dictated by the three stones moving away from each other. There’s bound to be unrest between you and a certain some-wolf because well, they’re very confused about matters of the heart. But - BUT,” Dragonfly paused and danced around her ring, as if to claim a different view of the situation and She inched closer to Zelda to whisper so no other wolf in line could hear, “The rat’s head has landed up, for good fortune. This some-wolf is so lucky that you’re in their life and the pair of you make each others lives better.”

Dragonfly trotted to the other end of the circle and tilted her head with a pleased little grin on her lips. She wished her fortune true for her peer; drama was exciting and if all panned out, it would mean they conquered the crazy waters they might face! Dragonfly couldn’t be more jealous of the fortune she’d just given; she wished her love life could be so exciting. But all she had so far was a healing patch of skin from being attack when she arrived; Well, there were those two dashing young males who came to her rescue, but she’d been so shocked she had went into hiding soon after. Now that she was feeling joyful again, she’d have to go seek them out - they were her friends now, after all. Near-death experiences will certainly do wonders to makes bonds between wolves, that was for certain.

Dragonfly’s eyes widened when an adult wolf trotted to the front of the line, cutting off the two wolves who were waiting around the tree. Her fur stood on end, until it was clear that this male was related to Zelda and didn’t understand what was going on. Dragonfly popped up, the rattlesnake’s tail rumbling in emphasis. She told the older wolf, “This is a gypsy gathering, sir. I’m a fortuneteller and I could read a lovely two for that beaver, but you’ll have to wait your turn. Next wolf in line is that fox-tailed gent.”

Dragonfly motioned with her paw towards where the gray wolf and her fellow gypsy, Taika, were conversing with a happy grin. Dragonfly patiently set her back back on the ground as she watched the male-who-knew Zelda (Dragonfly expected maybe a father, judging from the similarities of their fur).

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
