Sometimes, in Chrome or Firefox, this can be the result of multiple Adobe Flash Player plugins. If you access your plugins (chrome://plugins/ for chrome) and there are two AFP plugins, try disabling one and then refreshing LC and trying to open chat again.

Occasionally I have problems with chat loading as well, I get an icon in the middle of the chat that resembles a 'play' button, or I have gotten the size constraint message as well. In those cases its usually as simple as just right clicking just off to the side of the 'chat open/close' text (where its no longer a link) and selecting 'reload frame.' Then it works fine for me! This only became a problem for me once I got my new laptop that operates at a much larger resolution (3200 x 1800) than typical laptops (1920 x 1080).

Another alternative is to open the chat separately from the site; the URL is http://lunarwolfchat.chatango.com/
From there, you can select (in the upper right hand corner of the window) the LegacyFlash version or the HTML5 version.
When using the HTML5 version, once you are logged in, select the 'A' symbol, then from the panel that is brought up press the small 'x' at the left end to disable font styles so that everyone's font turns black and is legible against the white background.
