Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice ....................................................................................................................................................................................
After their conversation in which they had officially pledged themselves to one another in heart, role, and life, Kalgalath and Sebring had spent the next few days... Or week... Licking their wounds and resting, allowing themselves to heal. Much to Sebring's chagrin, Kalgalath had still fulfilled his tasks around the pack, patrolling, and marking the trees and ground at his boundaries. Though, he was glad to say, he did listen to her and patrolled much less than he often did, only making the rounds every other day or so. He enjoyed the down time that that then provided by cuddling with his new mate, basking in her heat. Once the two had finally began to heal, they had travelled to the center of the pack, and together had mounted the Boulder that had forever as Kalgalath's throne. He had introduced her to the pack, in name to the ones who had yet to meet her, and in title to everyone as a whole - as Queen of Aurora Borealis, his mate.
That night the pair had rested well, happy, indeed, with both how many vargs had come to answer their call, and with finally getting to be alone once again. But when the brute awoke the next morning and stretched over to touch his darling, he found the ground next to him cold and empty. It was the first morning since they had committed themselves to each other that he had woken up alone. Needless to say, it startled him. The brute jumped to his paws, lids wide awake as his nares flared, searching for her scent, and calmed when the coney's blood had reached into his nares. Turning his gaze down, he laid his arctics upon it and then lowered his cranium so that he could sniff it - and there it was, the faintest scent of his beloved. So - she had caught it to him. The Titan smiled and lowered his maw, opening his lips in order to tear the rabbit apart, ingesting its flesh bit by bit. When he was finished, his tongue swept over his kissers and cleaned the rest of the blood from his maw.
That was when her voice fell over him, faint, but clear. Kalgalath smiled and moved through the branches of the fir groves, their needles clawing their way through his pelt, brushing it out as he exited his den. His limbs moved, his pads pushing off of the earth as he trotted his way through his territory, doing the best he could to guess which way Sebring's vocals had come from. But that only got him so far, and when he stopped guessing, he lowered his nares to the ground, picking up on her perfume quickly. His pace hastened with his head lowered, but when he came upon the hallowed dens, he took pause.
Was this really where she was?
With a hesitant smile, Kalgalath began to walk toward them, his head peeking into each den, his arctics peering through the dark until at last he found the den that she was within, it's walls coated with her scent heavily. The brute entered and brushed against her, his head sweeping under her chin. "Are you lost, beautiful? When I woke without you, I worried for you. Though in truth, finding you here of all places... Are you sure?" His voice was deep, husky. He pulled back a bit so that his gaze would fall upon hers. He had had pups, a long time ago, but Nika had stolen them from him before he even had knowledge of them. Blayre he had raised... But it wasn't quite the same as having pups of your own, was it?
