Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Return to Lunar Children
Forest Guardian
IP: 98.183.8.249

It had been a good recovery. Much smoother and faster than his one with Jaidah had been. His wounds already were closed up, scabs still covered him and of course his ear would be forever notched where the flesh had been rended apart. It was fine, it took quite some time for him to get used to his ear feeling odd, but now he didn’t notice at all. The punctures on his shoulder were healed, and the wound on his neck as well was buried under his fur giving it an odd tuft but he knew once the scabs were gone it would sit normal again. Shiloh was all the healer he needed, though his sister was constantly had checked on him anyway. She as getting large though, surely a sign she was due soon. He knew children were not planned as they had hoped to wait but they thought maybe they should try. And it happened. It only took one time of trying it seemed, not that he minded. He had been excited, elated even for the children to come. Constantly waiting and thinking about them and what they would be like.

It would seem he didn’t have much longer to wait. The last couple days he hadn’t strayed far from her. He let her wander but he was always close by, keeping one of his dark rimmed ears out for her call should something happen. He wasn’t sure what to expect when she went into labor. He knew it could be dangerous for a female, but never had he really seen that side of birthing before. Really he was just happy, so content to see what his family would become. He was simply enjoying the forest today, the leaves on the trees budding about and even at some points rustling in the wind. But that wasn’t all that caught his ears.

His heart leapt from his chest when he hears her calling him over and over. It pounded more fiercely than when he was in battle, the panic seeding inside of him at the calls of his mate. He was probably panicking more than she was at that moment. He hadn’t expected her to sound like that and immediately his mind went to something was wrong rather than she was giving birth. He bolted towards her calls, they hadn’t been far from their den. She was already inside by the time he had arrived. He didn’t hesitate at all when he slipped in, after her mismatched eyes going around as if she was under pursuit from an attacker.

Her words though caused him to stop and his heart felt like it gave pause too. It’s time. That was all she offered him in a soft whimper before it seemed her body went to work. He watched silent and helpless but didn’t dare leave. Amoxtli placed himself closer to her head not sure what to say to her as she worked to give birth. Was he supposed to say something or do something? She didn’t even seem to notice him as she set to work he hoped that just being present was enough for her for the time being. It didn’t seem long at all when she turned. He peeked around, arching his neck only to see some… red bloody thing being picked up and moved to her stomach. He never witnessed a birth. Were they supposed to look like that. He didn’t dark ask, Shiloh seemed to know what she was doing when she cleaned the child revealing a beautiful dark brown coat and gold furs also making themselves known, so much like their mother, though he could see markings like his own but no they were far more like his father’s in reality, but Amoxtli knew his own topline markings were similar to his father’s own. A grin washed over his maw, feeling a warmth and love like no other wash over him at the first squeaks and protests before it found itself attaching to his mother’s teat. A boy. She said quietly before exclaiming how perfect he was. He was perfect. He couldn’t agree more.

Her joy seemed short lasted as another contraction occurs leaving her to grunt and push and it felt like no time at all that another was delivered. It was so quick it surprised him, not as much though as the fact when she started cleaning him he looked absolutely identical to the first. He looked between the two of them never seeing such a thing in his life. He wasn’t sure what to think. If he hadn’t watched her place each one where it was he wouldn’t have been able to tell which one was first and which one was second. As they squirmed and cried it only made things more confusing. If being a father was going to be difficult before this would make it even more so.
”Twin boys.” It was all he could really say as he looked them over his own voice quiet though he couldn’t help but simply grin in amusement.

”I had been thinking for a while of some Nahuatl names I thought you would like… these were the only two for boys that I knew you would like. Tepiltzin, and Tezcacotl. They mean privileged son and king. Though I have no idea how we are going to know which one is which.” He says bemused, lowering his head and looking over each of the pups. There was literally nothing different about them, even their size as the same currently. But the names he felt were perfect for them. He never fancied himself or his family as privileged or kingly, but the angels surely were, that was why they were fitting not from his blood but hers. He hoped she liked his choices he didn’t have anymore.

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
