Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

Her movements have forever been… tenuous, in a fashion, and as such the manner in which she pulls back from myself at our initial touch is met with little surprise, my tail waving a moment as her courage returns and she offers much the same gesture to myself in this single moment of expressed affection- one rare for the both of us, for truly neither of us, I think, are given to great shows of the more delicate emotions- not even with each other. Perhaps something to be worked on, though I believe we are both content in ourselves. After all, we have lived as mates for many years, become accustomed to one another, our words this day has merely made it a thing more official perhaps, more recognisable if only for the manner in which it has been spoken allowed. Next winter, I think, we will make it even more so- for is that not the done thing? Perhaps I shall find some joy in finally appeasing my Mother’s desire for grandchildren outside of Achilles. Yet such things for now are not best thought of, family matters are a displeasure to me at the best of times and in these moments my attention returns swiftly to Siren. Her eyes flicker, roll, finding my own again and indeed it is in these moments that I wonder, truly, of what battles occur in the mind of my mate that I simply do not hear. We are all in possession of thoughts of the past and whisper of the future, of that I am sure, though Siren seems far more inclined to such voices then others. Blood? My head is given to tilt slightly, red rimmed eyes of opalescent blue focusing upon her own. Blood of what? Whatever words I had considered speaking died upon my lips as her voice became louder and her head struck suddenly downward to seize her own leg between her teeth.

“Siren!”

It was mere surprise perhaps, that forced the words from my lips, eyes widening in this moment as it was so she moved to offer her limb towards me, as if she might desire I examine her self-inflicted wound. I do not know much of wounds, truly, that it does not seem so very bad as to warrant a healer- though my gaze looks upon her with question still, my gaze finding her own once more as I looked away from her limb.

“It does not look so bad, perhaps-“

Once more I found my words halted as she continued to speak of this….blood she so seemed to desire, my features frowned in contemplation of the words she offered, my gaze flicking from her own to her bloodied limb and back once more. Take her blood? Is this the way of Demons? I am perhaps beginning to understand in this moment why it is so that many of Demon kind are given to hold a less then….favourable name. Perhaps too there are many customs within the Angelic culture given to hold question, though to knowledge my own there are none that involve the sharing of blood or the harming of oneself. Surely this is not as all Demons do? For I hold no desire to taint my tongue with her blood. I have tasted the blood of a wolf only once and I hold no desire to do so again, though in this moment she seems so determined, her gaze finding my own with a near fevered hope that I might accept this…..offering, though indeed some part within myself turns at the thought. Her tail waves, her form held forward in a delight rare for even her as the confusion lingers still upon my features as she speaks of words she does not know. If this was to be her…custom then surely it may be so I can accept it- for her. If it should please her so. I do not think I have the…..heart to refuse her even if such a ritual is baffling to my mind and displeasing at best. If it should appease her then I suppose I am willing.

My own far larger form is given to near bow to reach for her left limb, allowing my jaws to part and tongue to sweep twice, three times, across her limb, cleaning the blood away from her wound in the very least though the taste of it is a hot metallic that disagrees with my tongue, though I am careful to show no sign of this lest it upset her, head nodded in satisfaction of my work though her gaze continues to rest expectantly upon myself, evidently seeking a return of this bizarre gesture. It takes but a moment to part my own jaws once more, puncturing through the thick white of the fur upon my right foreleg to allow droplets of blood to well to the surface in a wound less….flamboyant then Siren’s own and yet offering her blood still as the wound burned in a way I disliked upon my flesh.

“Here.”

I simply moved to extend my right let toward her now, assured this is what she had desired though I understood so little of it and hoped truly that this should be the one and only ritual to which she desired we partake that involved blood of any kind, my lips forming a smile all the same. If it pleased her to do this then it would please me in turn to offer it- sort of. She need not know.

“Tunc autem verba vetera satis esse, ut non modo dicuntur aliqui tantum refert. Nescio .... omnes consuetudines Angeli etsi i certus sum debemus hunt simul, partito in alios farinam supprema venemur. Venite, et lepus .... inveniemus aliquid tale.”
(Then these ancient words shall have to be enough, as long as some are said I should not think it matter so much. I do not know....all the customs of Angels though I am assured we must hunt together, share the meal we hunt. Come, we will find a rabbit or....something like that.)

I knew that I had missed some parts of the mating ritual, that surely it was more then this and yet it was mostly correct and surely it would not matter so very much, my gaze still intent upon her, some part of myself……hoping she would not seize onto my leg like deer bone, for I have seen her in her moments of panic. She forgets herself and I should not like my leg to be a causality of her forgetfulness….

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
