aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Approach thy grave like one who lies down to pleasant dreams,

for killing is not so easy as the innocent believe.

It had taken many months for Thanatopsis to cover every inch of Blossom Forest, but in the end it was well worth it. The appropriate time was taken to learn more about his new home and its inhabitants, as well as himself. The large brute had spent many of his days in the solemn silence of introspection. Picking apart his past and his puphood. Figuring out what made the cogs and gears in his brain spin the way they did. What triggered the memories that he'd rather not recall. What was normal in the eyes of this new society, and what was frowned upon. Being raised a killer had its perks, he certainly knew his way around a fight, but it had far more consequences that he could not have predicted. For instance, behaviors that were day-to-day in his home land were a last resort in Blossom Forest. And no one wanted to interact with a brute who not only looked intimidating, but had no social graces what so ever. If his battle scars didn't scare off potential friends, his personality, or lack-there-of, did.

Thanos had a hard time blaming the wolves of this land though. He wouldn't want to talk to someone like himself either. Which is why at first he had strategically woven around the many pack lands he encountered during his travels. After breaking free of the hold his tyrant father held on him, he hardly wanted to enter a new clan. They would have been crazy to accept him then. He was irrational, impulsive, confused, unpredictable and dangerous. But he had changed. Now he was in steady control of his demons and his pearly weapons. Well, for the most part. There were still times when he'd temporarily lose himself and resort back to his old ways, but with a gentle hand and a firm voice he could be wrangled back to sanity. Never again would he take an innocent life. He had vowed to be a perfect gentleman.

Which is what lead Thanos to this border. His promise to himself to find a new family, a new purpose in life. This territory marker was the invisible barrier between himself and redemption. The only thing separating him from what appeared to be the rising of the greatest pack in Blossom Forest. He had been watching the packs from a far, calculating his odds within the confines of each - and Aurora Borealis had come out on top. What, with it being on its way to soaring new heights, how could Thanos miss such a great opportunity to rise with them?

A deep resonating howl ripped from Thanos' muzzle as he threw back his dual-toned head and steadied his lanky pillars. A call to the monarchs of this land, a query of acceptance. As the tune faded out along the breeze the dragon sat back and prepared to wait. There was no telling how long it would take for someone to answer his request, especially with the recent busyness of the pack, but luckily he had also gained a certain degree of patience during his days as a loner. The final outcome would be well worth the wait.
