Mick, this is how we got on. Five worst fires in Australia up until a year or two back:
Black Saturday (Vic) 7-8Feb 2009
173 dead and 2000 homes burnt.
Ash Wednesday (Vic-SA) 16-18 Feb 1983
75 dead and 1900 homes burnt.
Black Friday (Vic) 13-20 Jan 1939
71 dead and 650 homes burnt.
Black Tuesday (Tas) 7 Feb 1967
62 dead and 1300 homes burnt, and
Black Sunday (Vic) Feb-Mar 1926
60 dead. Not sure how many homes burnt.

Interesting to note the worst was post the computer age.
