Things had not gone as plan the day I waited for the girl to come down the mountain. The land was challenged surely sending the female’s rather predictable schedule out of whack in a way I couldn’t expect or prevent. After all how I was to know that some male would come calling for the mountain crown? Well it made things easier, I think, in the long run. I was still going to keep her as my target she stayed at home or not. I liked her and she had some family within our lands already. She was a perfect candidate for them, she was not as they were, but her child was strange and based on what I had learned it sounded like for a while she might have even called this land home.
I didn’t know if she would stay, but maybe she could for her daughter. I wasn’t sure if she even to wanted to stay if her current alpha lost. So I stuck around, watching waiting until finally I see her and her beast leave the mountain soon after the call of victory rang from the challengers maw. The mountain was no longer under its old owners control. I am impartial to such things. I follow her and her large grey beast until I find where they have settled in the free lands. Temporary or not I aim to lure her to herd her from this spot and to that of my field home. The Monster wishes I take wolves so I shall, she may not be of Spriane anymore but I do not think it matters, I am simply to take a wolf from a different walk of life and see if she will stay amongst us all.
I try to surprise her giving a little nip at her tasty heels as soon as I see that her beast leaves. I feel they are more than mates. Just their interactions, their words their motions… something is different. I enjoy the game though the danger I am putting myself in is in and of itself is a thrill. She falls to me so easily I can’t help myself but give a little bark. ”Come find your little one! We have her after all.” taunting her further to follow and allowing me to lead the way.
Soon I have her in the pack, I stop only once we are in the borders. My singular golden eye locked onto her while a lopsided grin comes over my face. White paws hold their ground she’s a quick little fox but so am I, I wonder if she will come and try to harm me. Part of me hope she does, but I know soon enough the monster will be here and perhaps the little fox’s monster will be along too. Heavens knows if they will fit in, but I did my part I brought her here and that was all I could ask for.
