News 08.08.2021
Change was long overdue in Spirane. Now that I have learned who is still an active presence within the pack, the ranks have been updated. As I once took time away from the pack, so too now shall Kalseru. Know that she is still second in command of the pack, as is reflected in her rank. Once you are familiar with the new ranking system, if you would like to change positions or move up in the ranks you need only ask. Let this be a time of new life in Spirane, and a promise of great things to come!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

Roman was a great many things, but he was rather more contemporary about ‘blood’ than most. Blood was only an additive, not the whole core of his particular mindset -- or else would Peregrine have been made one of his Scions? It was his belief that blood meant little without more to back it up that made him so open, so welcoming of children that were not his own, so like an uncle or a father to those who were here like little Lailah, for one instance.

When he spots Peregrine, following her and relaxing a comfortable distance away, it is the strange but similar scented pup that makes him pause. He lets them speak, hearing both his daughter and this intruder’s exchanges. The rather bitter words and tone taken by the youth does not make him hesitate even a moment before he comes out at his daughter’s words of requesting welcome. “This is where you fit in, but I don't think I fit in anywhere. Forgive me if I don't trust adults.”

“You ought to trust the belief of my daughter when it regards me, then, rather a learned mistrust that colors your view of strange adults, hm?” It is not for him to make her more comfortable here, not if she did not wish to be comfortable with those she would need to interact with on a regular basis. “And if you begin your visit believing you will not fit in, you will only make sure of it by putting such weight into what you feel rather than what you experience and learn.” His eyes are calm, but they do not coddle or simper at the harsh nature of the young yearling.

“If I may be so bold,” it is clear that he believes he may, “I would think that a smart young wolf would see her--” he scents the air again, “well, I think that I can safely call her your sister,” and then he smiles at his daughter, adopted or not, “would see her sister was well fed, unharmed, and even thriving and determine that those who look out for her are not the sort to distrust blindly. Then, perhaps also, a smart young wolf would also trust that that same sister would not invite her sister in to live in a place where she would be mistreated.”

All common sense sorts of things, but he knows anger. He knows the illogical things it causes and makes even grown wolves do. “A young wolf might also see that anger is perhaps the least likely emotion to produce results, when - from what I can tell and have heard - the greater wronged of the two has survived with kinder results from living in more than one state of being.” He sits then, easy in his advising, looking to Peregrine with every ounce of expression a father would turn on his own child.

“Peregrine, do you vouch for this wolf? Will you own to what she does if she is given leave to make the mountains her home?” Like any father, he teaches his daughter responsibility for herself and those she might care for. It did not matter how young she was, nor that she was not an alpha yet. “Are you prepared to own her successes and mistakes as a pack sister as the one who welcomed her in - both at home and in all of Moladion?”
