Pay Me My Dues

.:|TITHE|:.
...Before I Take What I'm Owed.

All of the sudden Tithe felt even more off balance. Not only had he been thinking he was going to do something stupid, but he clearly had not thought the action out. His fear of the Boss clouded his mind with images of hooves crashing down on innocent faces. Under his flesh his muscles twitched with adrenaline. He wanted to see the change of the Lagoon, he itched to protect others who could not protect themselves, or did not know they had to. At the same time he knew he could fail and make it worse for the world around him. He looked at Nephilim with his dark eyes. The stallion was also young, but strong and passionate. Would Tithe’s involvement make a difference in Felony’s desire to collect from the herds? A target was on all of their backs, whether they had willed it or not.

“I fear as soon he knows I have defied him there will be the challenge. I have not returned to Crossing since I have refused his task.” The colt paused for a moment. Surely the other stallions of the islands would want to ensure the safety of their children, particularly their daughters. He had not thought of that concept, and honestly contemplated the legitimacy of one so young approaching herd stallions who could automatically see him as a threat. Those who already resided in the Lagoon though… Not everyone was as bloodthirsty as their leader. Tithe snorted to himself. There was a chance there was another way. More if they had the support of herd stallions.

Feathering hooves kicked at the ground, and Tithe lowered his head in thought. “There is a chance this can be done peacefully. There is still the idea of diplomacy and a vote there. If things go poorly, that would be the time violence would break. I wish I could ask for the support of other herd stallions, they all are indiscriminately targeted.” His ears flicked, attention drawn briefly from the topic by the troubles of his friend. “A colt? What sort of troubles.” Tilting his head, he inwardly pledged himself to his friend. “Is there anything I could do? You know you have me at your back.” His nose dipped in a respectful half bow to the man who had given him and his mother a home.
