Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Sila
i can feel the thunder that’s breaking in your heart
She wonders about Nox as they move along the unspoken trail and away from the swamps. She wonders where she has been and what things in life she has seen and experienced. Those around her are a great mystery to the child and she hopes, one day, she will be blessed enough to be trusted with their stories. It is something she aspires towards thansk to her mother. She often listens to the way her mother speaks of wolves that Sila will never meet; old kings and queens, packs long since lost to some grand calamity, friends and family lost to time and scattered across the world like autumn leaves. Perhaps it is naive and yet, she cannot help but want to be able to spread those very stories herself or even simply listen to them. Each story is unique and important, a legacy unto itself even if the wolf telling it does not think it as such. Nox is no exception and yet, for now, Sila is too young and too shaky in her confidence to pry any further into the woman's history. She simply exists in the now, pleased to create her own small chapter with her companion.

She twirls at the mention of someday visiting Iromar, enthralled by the idea and yet, she grins sheepishly in full awareness that they'd need to plan their trip carefully in order to avoid the swamp's less... appealing time of the year. "Spring," she chortles with a decisive nod, "I hear it is lovely in spring despite the bog! Flowers, they say, and great, tall grass that reaches over your head!" She giggles at the prospect of it, imagining an unusual world of colour with reeds that reach to the sky like trees. Of course, it is the prospect of having a friend that really excites her. It is as if Nox's suggestion confirms it to the girl - she'd made a friend! Is that not the best thing she could have hoped for?

It is then that the pair take off towards the fields and she is giddy with excitement as Nox keeps her pace to her own. She cannot help but be flattered by the gesture, used to adults simply barrelling forward, seemingly forgetting that her legs are simply too short and too untrained to keep up. Still, she cannot help but pant slightly, though she does her best to simply smile through it, nudging into Nox's side playfully with a roll of her eyes at her mention of Sila having seen so little of Moladion.

It does not take them much longer before they arrive at the fields and Sila is instantly pleased that the air is clear now; it reeks only of warm grass and the mud of the lake beyond. It is pleasant though and she sucks in a deep breath of the fresh air, pleased that Nox seems to enjoy the view. However, Sila frowns slightly at her mention of being unwelcome - it is a sad frown though, confused and unsure before she tentatively proceeds. "I'm... sorry to hear," she gently says, dipping her head in a small, apologetic nod, "did something happen?"

She figets slightly, unsure as to whether it was the right thing to ask but she has spoken already and so, she must simply deal with the consequences. She holds her breath though (doing her best to appear otherwise) and watches Nox's face closely for any signs of discomfort. She waits for some time but finally, she gives a small sigh as she glances back to the mountains. "Something happened there too," she says a little sadly, though she does her best to sound more confident in her words as she continues, "a new leader happened. I think there are some that feel they are not welcomed there anymore too. It doesn't seem fair, I don't think. Shouldn't somebody's home always be their home?" It is a naive thing to say perhaps and her head falls into a tilt of question as she turns back to Nox. She expects no answer and yet there is a part of her that hopes the older woman will have... something to help it all make sense.

She sways then, unsure as to whether to lead Nox further into the fields. Perhaps they will be able to approach Diveen to the east and catch a glimpse of the towering stone towers and ravines that criss-cross the region closest to it. For now though, she feels a little... somber. It is her first chance to truly get to know somebody, and to discover a story, and she so desperately wants to help in some way while doing so.
