Re(1): Death of the Indy as a print paper IP: 81.141.92.110 Posted on February 13, 2016 at 01:07:13 AM by Don Manley
As (I think) he longest-serving contributor to the (S)indy crossword, I note its passing with wistful regret. It gave me access to the London dailies nearly 30 years ago and its crossword editors have all been very good. But The Indy paid poorly, recycled Independent puzzles in the smaller paper five years on without an additional fee, and offered no encouragement whatever -- which is why (despite its having good editorial content) I have gradually contributed fewer and fewer puzzles. A sad end after such a hopeful beginning for a paper that purported to be on the side of the angels. Replies:
