Re(4): Death of the Indy as a print paper
IP: 94.195.185.21

I have to take issue with Don's pessimism. He has been fortunate to benefit through his talent to be able to make a living through his setting. The Telegraph and Times both provide more than adequate services for their solvers. The Indy could continue to do this, even by just providing pdf downloads. but as more of us take to reading newspapers on our iPads (and I am one), solving the daily cryptic is just as simple.

If Don wishes to leave a legacy for his work, then surely it should be to support providing options for his successors to have their early puzzles published, rather than bemoan what has happened.

If we do get the paper to include the puzzle then perhaps Don will yield his slot fully to allow a newer setter.

Perhaps solving those old IOS puzzles that were recycled will have spurred one or two to invest in his books. That would have been some return at least.
