During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

Betrayal was one of the first things that the female felt. From the moment that she no longer needed to rely on her mother’s milk, it had just been her and her father. Her siblings had disappeared despite Akuji’s efforts to find them, and it had just been the two of them. She had grown to trust him wholeheartedly and to love him. She looked up to him in ways that no one could understand. All she wanted to do was to make him happy, to make him proud of her. The femme had always done everything and anything that he had ever asked of her, without question or delay. And now this was how he was repaying her for her love and loyalty? Trying to just push her onto another male, as if she was some burden to Akuji? And it was not as if she needed protection. Her father had taught her how to fight and defend herself since she could walk. She was a true warrior, made of muscle, strength, and stealth. She knew how to handle herself should she be attacked by others, and she would know how to safely sneak away if need be. Akuji had taught her everything she knew, and if he did not think that she was good enough, well then it was his own damn fault and not hers. He could not blame her, and he could not just marry her off to someone as if she had no true feelings or emotions of her own.

Anger flared in her chocolate brown orbs, a color that she had inherited from her father. Normally she wanted to be as like him as possible, but for the first time that she could remember, she wanted nothing to do with him. Her russet colored fur stood on end in her anger, and she lashed out to both Akuji and Horizon. Her paw lashed out, flinging the gift that Horizon had given her. She was not aiming to hit him, just to get the filthy thing away from her. A snarl escaped her as well. Horizon’s form stepped to the side to avoid being hit by the flying carcass. The female ignored the other brute across the borders for now, turning on her father, as if she was going to attack her. His words hit her audettes, as she spun to face him, fur bristling in anger. "Shasta! Now you have wasted a perfectly good hare! Even though winter is ended and the snow is melting, do you know how difficult it is to find one of those around here?" Shasta knew that no matter how angry she may be at her father, she would not ever actually try to hurt him. She did however, spit out words of anger and betrayal at him. ”I do not care how hard it was for him to find it. I did not ask for it!” As the female continued to express her anger at both males, Horizon finally spoke up. ”Akuji you understood I only let this meeting occur to meet Shasta, I am under no circumstance obligated to ask her questions of such caliber. If it’s not obvious… Shasta has no intention of letting me anywhere near her. And Shasta I would hope to have you understand I had no intention of ever going along with your father. Please take my word, I only intended to befriend you Shasta.”

The female remained silent for a moment, wondering if what Horizon said was true. If this truly was all her father’s doing then she could not blame the other male. If he agreed with what Akuji was doing, surely he would have reacted in anger to her uncooperativeness, but instead he seemed awkward and embarrassed. But how could she know he was not faking it? She would not let herself be distracted by a pretty face, even if he happened to be one of the most handsome kalak’s she had laid eyes on. Her brown orbs looked him over, trying to judge if he was indeed being truthful or not. Before she could decide what she thought of the other male, Akuji took her attention once more. She could tell from the way his vocals came out that he was beyond furious at her, and that only made her madder. He had no right to be angry at her, this was her life to control, not his. ”Fine Shasta, but when my Father comes to collect you, I hope you remember this day and that you would not listen to me. I pity you for the pain you will feel by his teeth, but your blood will no longer be upon my pads. Daddy won't be here to protect you any more from the horrors of the world. I have shielded you and all I ever wanted was to keep you safe, and this is how you repay me? And you, Horizon, you deserved everything Farant did to you. If you had stood up to him, showed some fucking initiative, maybe he would have put you in his army, but no you acted the part, being the dog that you are. Pitiful.”

The female growled again at her father’s words, now angry for herself and for Horizon. She had no reason to feel that way for the new male, but she could believe how her father was acting. She took a step towards Akuji as she spat out words at him once more. ”You’re making a fool of yourself, father. I do not need you, or this male, to protect me. I can take care of myself and defend myself, even from your own father. I do not need shielding, I am no longer a pup that needs protection. Besides, when did you ever shield me? You started training me from the moment mother left, I had no chance to be an innocent pup. And you are the pitiful one, not Horizon. At least he has the nerve to stand up to you and let me be myself, and not be controlling like you.” And then Akuji was gone, leaving the pair alone at the borders of Munashii Gekko. The femme was breathing hard, as if she had actually physically fought the male. Shasta tried to calm her breathing, to relax her mind. She closed her eyes, focusing on her breathing and nothing else. After a few moments her breathing was no longer labored and the fur on her settled back down to normal.

Shasta turned back to face Horizon, unsure of what to do now. ”Sorry about my father. I’ve never seen him this way before and I don’t know what’s gotten into him. Did you mean what you said? This was his idea and not yours as well?” She was not sure if there was anything that Horizon would say to make her want to befriend him, but she decided it was only fair to give him a chance.
