Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

The Once and Future King

“Ah Rhaegal!”

He was here at last, my lips pulled into a grin of sorts. I’d always preferred him to his brothers. Drogon I found entirely bland and the other one, well, he was alright, Rhaegal however seemed to be in possession of the most charm and intrigue, he was by far the best choice for a companion on this little journey and while perhaps he no longer lived with in Spirane I saw no issue with bringing a loner with me all the same. Perhaps he’d find a pack he liked while we were out, perhaps he could gather intel on how to win his pack back once he came of age to do such a thing. My family always has been loyal to his own, perhaps he might like assistance in returning his bloodline to its rightful place as the Angels had been returned to theirs after the fall of….that other guy. I scowled slightly, refusing to even offer his name a place within my mind before brushing the memory free entirely and allowing the violet of my gaze to fall back upon my companion. I was glad he had come in the least. As I said, I always did like him and perhaps there might be reason to offer him a little more of my friendship, after all, we could both do with the help of the other in what was to come I am sure. For now however I aim to stick with my plan, speak to him first, if anything, after all, maybe he is content being a loner. Though why anyone would want to live outside a pack I truly have little idea. What did loners do all day? Truly I have no idea what I would do without reason to plot or scheme or lie in the sun under the impression I was guarding something. I looked very good when I was pretending to guard, very convincing.

“Which pack do you desire to start with? We needn’t go to Asteraia, I am not in need of anything there and we can avoid the Mountain, too, if you would prefer, what of the others? Does one take your fancy?”

I could be polite, I could offer him a choice of where to go first. Who said I wasn’t generous? I grinned slightly, tail waving in humour at my own internal monologue. My words were true however, Asteraia had been more then accommodating to me and I needed nothing else from them, as for the mountain if it would bother him to go, as well it might, then I saw no need for it either, there would always be time later. I paused, waiting for a reply before lifting to my paws once more, gazing moving to look back out and over the river, serious now, more so then I had been before.

“Rhae?”

If he disliked my shortening his name then he need only tell me, although really it was a long name to say so often and all at once and we were friends right? Aren’t friends allowed to shorten names?

“Will you go back for your pack?”

He would know what I meant, I was sure, even though I had not specifically mentioned the word claim. No pack, truly, belongs to any family or any blood, it is those with a mind to think that way that allow that perception to grow and yet it would be foolish, I think, to underestimate any of the prior Alphess sons- each upon the cusp of adulthood as I myself was. There would be changes in this land, in the coming years, of that I was sure. Perhaps Rhaegal would be a part of them, I might be inclined to invite him so.

“If you don’t desire to speak about it then we want but I understand what it is not to have a home.”
