Misty Mountain is opposite of Rainbow Cliff. Mists hover year-round at this high altitude, mistaken by some to be thin clouds. Thin layers of snow cover the mountain, making some areas slippery and hazardous.

Some think it romantic, a place to bring their mates, while others come to play and romp. However, all must agree that there is some level of mystery and spookiness hovering about with the mists...

The fae tensed when Kahlan asked for her to share, quid pro quo, as it were. But then she parted her kissers and began to talk. Kahlan felt pity growing within her, pity, and a sense of understanding. Kanae's story was similar to Kahlan's own, and it had affected her for the rest of her life. It had caused her to feel as if she was constantly being abandoned. It had driven her to become a healer, to see if there would have been a way to cure the illness that passed over her pack. She understood this varg's pain... The fae's Suns watched as the opposing wolfesses inhaled sharply and looked at Kahlan - finally - before remaining silent. "I suppose I left out much from my story, mainly the part that your own story is akin to. My pack... Well a rabid wolf was led to my pack." Her voice almost broke as she remembered two things.

The first was the fear in everyone's eyes as the monster tore through the pack, biting everyone, shedding blood, terrorizing all until her father had put him down. The feeling of relief had been brief... And no one had known about their destitute future. None had been specifically healers in her pack, and no one had thought anything about the froth upon the stranger's maw, the insatiable rage, the lack of morality... But within a few weeks all in the pack who had been bit had began to act similarly... And then it had been her father who had slain the pack as a whole. Kahlan's mother had grabbed her and slipped her away to safety, but Henadin, her brother, had been left behind and had had to grow up on his own. He had told her, once of the fear he had felt when he finally left from his hiding place and had seen utter chaos at his feet - all of the pack members dead upon the earth, staining it forever with their blood.

But the second thought, that one was more conflicting. For it had been Kenshin - her Kenshin - who had led the rabid wolf to their pack. And she missed Kenshin, and the love that they had shared. She hated Kenshin, for what he had done and for now leaving her, breaking her. And she hated herself most of all, for the lingering love that was still in her heart for him, a piece of herself that she kept locked away. She was ashamed of loving the man who had singlehandedly destroyed her pack, impregnated her, and then abandoned her. But still... She loved him.

"My whole pack was murdered, aside from myself, my brother, and my mother. My mother died years ago, now, and my brother... Henadin was recently killed helping to protect another pack. I am all alone. I am utterly alone."
