After the fire.....

Yesterday was dry and windy in KC. We haven't had rain or snow for several weeks and, with the 68degree temps, the 45 mph winds put us in a fire warning umbrella.
Sure enough, human nature being what it is, there was a big fire by Wyandotte County Park, right next to The Renaissance Festival. According to the news, it was a huge fire that took several fire departments the better part of the day to get under control.
So, this morning I jumped into my car and drove my usual route to Ren Fest. Didn't see any evidence of a fire and, since the site was open I took the opportunity to check my booth and talk to the staff, who had no idea where the fire had been.
After checking my 2 favorite 2nd hand stores ( I AM my mother's daughter) I drove by the park side of the street and did see a surprisingly small area that was charred. My guess is the fireman were just fighting the wind and did keep it from spreading.
After finding Bob Evans Restaurant in the shopping center, I got home and took a nap.
With less windy conditions and temps in the 70s, it was a good day for a drive.
