At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

Loyalty means nothing unless it has at its heart the absolute principle of self-sacrifice

It was a strange sound that awoke him, and at first the King thought that it was a dream that spoke to him. But even after his lids lifted, exposing his arctics, signalling the end of his slumber, the call lingered and Kalgalath sat upright quickly, analyzing it entirely. It was painful, it was terrified, it was angry, it was hurt, it was confused. It was the sound of a soul calling out to the night, releasing all emotions, all thoughts, at the same time. The vocals were not ones that he recognized, nor were they they close enough to be within his boundaries... But it didn't matter to the Titan. As he tilted his head down, his gaze falling upon both his pups and his mate, he knew that he would be answering the call. The howl had not beckoned to anyone in particular nor asked for attention or a response, but Kalgalath already found himself extricating from his position curled protectively around them. Kalgalath had gone through years of pain, multiple events of heartbreak and betrayals... But now he had his happily ever after. He had a full pack that was full of life. He had his mate and now two little pups that had come of their consummation of their love. There was nothing missing from his life - he now needed to be the rock for others to lean upon. Perhaps that was why he took the role of Alpha so seriously. So many vargs had helped him upon his way to the top, had supported him, had counseled him... And though life was not fair and never would be fair, the least that Kalgalath could do would be to give back to the world.

Leaning down, his tongue escaped and ran over each of his pups. The pups stirred beneath his touch but neither woke, and Kalgalath turned his attentions to his mate. "I'll be back soon, Sebring. I'll try to bring back breakfast." His words were hardly more than a whisper and he nuzzled her audette before pushing his way through the branches. Their needles pulled at his coat brushing it out and when finally he saw that the night was nearly over. Already the sky was pinking, gentle rays of sunlight peaking over the distant mountain ranges, painting beautiful art on the canvas above. Still it was dark, but Kalgalath did not need light to traverse his own territory. He knew the trails just as well or perhaps better than he knew his own pelt and could run it blinded as asked. The only time that anything was different was after storms, which occasionally felled trees, thus changing his paths.

But the most recent storm had been a few weeks ago, and so Kalgalath knew that the trails were exactly as he knew them to be in his mind. As he traveled, the sun rose higher and higher into the air, allotting to him more light to travel by, but it wasn't until he had travelled outside of Aurora Borealis that he actually began to look where he was going. He was surprised to find that the call, while it truly wasn't within his boundaries, was right outside of them. His paws felt the change before his sight did, the hard soil changing to a soft, sliding silt that covered the entire shore of Leisure Lake. It was soon after that that the trees began to thin, giving way to an empty shore, save for a single wolf who stood alone. The brute stood with his back to the woods, perhaps a dangerous choice even though he had nothing to fear from Kalgalath. Either he was confident in his ability to fight off defenders should he be attacked, or he was naive. The mottled grey Titan assumed the prior and walked toward him, moving besides him, the lake's waters lapping at his pads. Glancing sideways, his arctics studied the brute - he certainly was not one that Kalgalath had ever met before.

Kalgalath returned his gaze forward, a faint smile upon his facade. This place held special memories for him - it had been where he had first met Sebring, where he had rescued her from these very depths. The waves had sought to pull her under, drowning her in its clear but dark depths. As soon as her eyes had opened, they had connected, and that first day had been when their relationship had begun. If he had been even a minute or two late, she perhaps would have not made it. Their entire story would not have been written, and life as a whole would be different for the two. "So what is it that so thoroughly pained your soul, stranger?"
