Tithe

Steely eyes had been so close to closing as he stared at the ceiling of his den. He was so relaxed in his home, letting the things that perturbed him drift out of his mind. So rarely was he free to simply be himself that he took advantage of it now. A silly grin spread across his lips while his wondering mind started the leave his problems far behind and scamper down the paths of day dreams. There were so many crazy dreams that seemed impossible in reality he could not help but laugh at the pictures that played behind his lids, though some of them made his heart ache. At last his eyes opened up and he looked over at the rounded bones. Tilting his great head slightly to the side he reached a paw out, and cringed when it jostled his wounded chest. Deciding not to try that again he simply returned to staring back up.

Until he heard something out of his den.

Surprised, he jumped to his feet, biting back a yelp of pain. He was thankful she had given him a warning and he was able to compose himself. Shields went over his face and his body, though relaxed, became his usual poised attentive stance. When Niviaq spoke and stepped forward he ‘woofed’ an assuring greeting.

“Niviaq, welcome. Please come in.” He looked over the woman, the utmost respect in his gaze. She was the mother of Pandora and the top healer of Spirane. When she was completely in the den he frowned at her. “You did not need to come all the way up here. I would have come to you.” The knight had no idea she was here to look at his wound. “Please, come in and rest.” He shuffled to the side to give her as much room as she needed in his spacious abode. “What can I do for you?”
