At least Vodnik's amuses himself, otherwise his light-hearted folly would go entirely unappreciated. Anonymous is such a serious fellow, and it's unlikely that Vodnik's sarcastic humor will change that. The bay stallion couldn't even begin to guess at the sad, self-loathing thoughts behind Anonymous' stoic façade

Anonymous remains a riddle that Vodnik has yet to solve, but Anonymous reads Vodnik like an open book. Vodnik heaves a heavy sigh and confesses to the truth in Anonymous' statement. "No. I'm not at all accustomed to this. I spent all my years on the mainland as a part of a large bachelor band." A smile tugs at the corners of his lips and his eyes drift into fond memories. "There was never a moment of peace among my brothers."

Vodnik's gaze drifts out to sea. Returning to his band of bachelors has been a nagging temptation over these past few months. Life as a lead is not all he thought it would be. Vodnik's knows how to engage in a healthy spar. He knows how to survive on the fly, and how to mount a few mares under the noses of inattentive band stallions. He does not, however, have any idea how to engage in diplomatic conversation, or actually raise any of the foals he's sired. He is not a family man. He is a warrior, but is not yet a leader. Vodnik's has a lot to learn. Perhaps this humble, soft-spoken stallion can teach Vodnik a thing or two.

Looking back to his companion, he voices his own theory. "You must not be used to this kind of life either, though I can't see you as the same type of bachelor I was." Anonymous seems to appreciate the peace as if he's experienced chaos before, but Vodnik can't picture him being the source of the chaos. For moment, Vodnik wonders if this black stallion may have been a stallion he bullied in years past.
