“Yes, eloquent- you will be.”
He would make sure of it. She would be more than her Mother ever was. Maybe he had never fully met the Alphess off Asteraia and as such could hardly make such a statement and yet despite his own intelligence he is surely prone to the hubris of youth all the same. He knew enough of his new Alphess and Alpha, parents of Nevermore, to understand that perhaps they were a little different- but Never? She was something new, exciting, something and someone he could….help become something more. That he might just happen to rise along with her was merely a coincidence. It was going to take some work though she was so…..er……different. It amused him though, in some fashion, the boy never having met anyone quite like this, Never having captured his attention from the day they had met in the fields where he had rudely been denied a prize he had appropriately won. Angels were just liars. He would remember that slight. For now however the gleaming golden boy has far more important things on his mind, like teaching his new protégé that hopper is not a real word and that the future Queen of Asteraia could not go about telling others she wanted to find hoppers. Her description however, sees his wildly handsome young head tilt, emerald eyes resting upon her before sudden realisation adorns his features. She was talking about a rabbit. Maybe that should have been a little more obvious. For a moment he is ashamed of his inability to have made this realisation as his scowls briefly at himself, shaking the thought away.
“You know the word for dandelions but you don’t know the real name of hoppers? That seems decidedly implausible.”
His head simply shakes, obliviously to the high level of the vocabulary of his own speech, amusing incorrectly perhaps, that Nevermore will simply understand. That his own teaching skills are surely in need of review is perhaps something to ponder later, the boy, for now, assured of his own task.
“Rabbits. That is the real name for Hoppers. Rabbits. Call them that and others will understand.”
He nodded, grinning as he did- assured he had just imparted wisdom and truly he felt rather proud of it, pleased that his newest friend (for he has decided they are the best of friends) will grow in her knowledge because of him. The sudden desire of the female puppy to begin to leap about however sees his eyes grow wide once more. Whatever was she doing? Such bizarre behaviour.
“Are you alright?”
It is unfortunate he thinks, that Pan is not hear to diagnose these strange symptoms the girl seems to be displaying, Rhett’s head tilting softly to the side in genuine curiosity before she suddenly stops with a grin- the boy managing to return it despite how entirely baffled he remained by her behaviour in general. His mention of battle and armies however seems to distract her and truthfully he is thankful for it, his own tail waving a moment.
“It means don’t out all your effort towards something that’s not worth it in the end. We don’t need to worry about that yet though, we can worry about it later.”
Walking without hoping, he thinks, is the first challenge, Nevermore not nearly ready to discuss armies with him when she was still struggling with the state of the worlds hoppers. I was a little bit funny though, he would admit to that, finding himself chuckling if only slightly, even despite himself and the seriousness he had been determined to maintain. She presses against him and he simply allows her to do so- his own gaze wandering across the pack land. This was a good place to live, he is sure, he would have to travel back to the mountain later- to tell his own parents of it. Perhaps h could bring Never with him. Her mention of Provider and Protector sees his head tilt again, though he makes no move to push her away from himself, content in this contact all the same.
“Are they your Parents names? They seem decidedly specific. Why would Protector hurt me? I’m pack now. Where is your Brother anyway, I didn’t really get to meet him before. As for speaking well, that comes from my Father- he likes words a lot. I can teach you lots of words though, more then your Brother even.”
Who didn’t want to be better than their Brother?
