Many wolves looking for relaxation come to Blossom Field. A gentle breeze vibrating the blossoming flowers is quite a sight to see and it is quite a favourite for wolves to come with their mates.

A recent fire has ruined the scenery, half the field covered with soot and marked with scars of the flames. The other half is untouched, however.

She was too busy tearing at the ground to pay much attention to the noise of the approaching wolf behind her, her auds focused on trying to hear which was the rabbit was burrowing as it scurried to escape her jaws, but she did hear her name as it fell from a brute's lips. Kahlan did not pause in her motions but did mark his progress, knowing that the brute who was stalking her was no stranger to her. No, the vocals were ones that she knew well enough. She had met him perhaps only once or twice that she could recall. The first had been when he had come to Saw Tooth's borders to drop off Kirastasia as collateral. He had forfeited his own daughter so that he could retain a pup within his own lands. He had said that it was only far to receive payment in exchange for Channing being tended to and for her using one of their dens in order to whelp her pups, and it had only been Moth's quick thinking and swift tongue that had set up the exchange - Roheryn for Kirastasia. He was a brute that had been hated by many within Saw Tooth, both for having 'kidnapped' Roheryn, and for his dark tendencies which set him so far apart from Moth's kind ways. And so, for the most part it had fallen to Kahlan to remain cordial to the brute, and to prevent war from being started between two packs. She had found him uniquely capable, a survivor who was resourceful and never passed up a opportunity to gain the upper hand. Remaining objective, she had found him oddly admirable.

The second time had been when he had sought out her help, needing for her to cure both him and one of his members of a deadly, rare poison. If they had gone elsewhere, they likely would have died from the poison, for though it was slow acting, few knew of the poison let alone knew of the antidote or where to find it. Kahlan had had to search quickly for the antidote which was so often thought of as a weed, and had had to work fast in order to get it within the thrashing femme, forcing it through her locked jaws and forcing her to swallow it down. They had left once the pair had been able to walk once again, and she had not seen him since.

Did he know that the pup he had taken no longer had family? That Henadin was dead and that Channing was assumed to be as well? That the other pups had disappeared? That Kahlan was alone, that Kenshin had left her, and her family had been stolen from her once again? That Moth had died and Saw Tooth had been destroyed by Mother Nature's cruel accursed volcano? That his daughter had fled Saw Tooth, ending the allegiance between Saw Tooth and Abendrot? That she was currently shacking up with his daughter and doing the dirtiest of deeds out in the open? Did he know any of this?

Footfalls resonated in her auds, and she wondered when they slowed and quieted just what his attentions were. Not one for surprises, she addressed him directly, her ambers focused on her task, not turning to him. "Eating your friends tends to ruin relationships, Kershov. How about you come help me dig out this coney instead? It'll only be a snack but I'll give you your pick of heads or tails."
