aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Oh the joy! The joy, the joy, the joy! The alpha’s son couldn’t begin to describe the immense floods of emotion, sight and sound that consumed him. The squirrel and it’s vagaries in color, the soft whip of wind against his fur sending shivers up his spine. It was a sensory overload, but he couldn’t get enough. Nothing could satiate the little lad’s curiosity and thirst for knowledge. The world, even just within the borders of Aurora Borealis, was more than the lad could have ever dreamed of knowing. This was the same place his father and mother had seen every day and he couldn’t even begin to understand how they didn’t come home in the happiest of moods every single time. There was so much to see and this was only the first of many days he would be spending outside the den, at least he hoped it wouldn’t be. Castiel didn’t think his parents could hold him back now, not with the expanse of adventure that they had laid at his paws on this day. Not even the entry of a stranger could dull the boy’s spirit for more than a second. And this might have come from his lack of understanding, that maybe this was a form of encroachment upon mother and father’s land. But Vladimir seemed to pick up on those more diplomatic things better than Cas. The onyx swirled child was more of his mother, but more kind and trusting to a fault like his father of those he considered family and friends, but this trait would not manifest for a few more months, maybe not even for a year. Only time would tell.

Cas watched as his brother’s playful gaze fell into a deepening scowl. Vlad was always the serious one wasn’t he? Castiel hoped his brother would lighten up a bit there was no need to be so harsh and distrustful. Not until this brute proved otherwise, though in the brother’s case that might prove to be fatal. Not that the thought crossed the angel’s mind. Yea, he is our father, so what of it? If you are thinking about kidnapping us you better think again, our father will tear you limb from limb and our mother will eat your remains for breakfast. The earthen warrior snorted and Cas had to put a paw to his snout to keep himself from doubling over laughing. That seemed like the last thing mother or father would have done, and again it would obvious to point the lighter hearted of the two. Castiel thought of Kalgalath as his Father, it hardly ever crossed his mind that he was the Alpha, the leader, of Aurora Borealis. Castiel had yet to face the wrath of his father. At worst their parents had merely grumbled at them for being so rambunctious and impatient. There wasn’t much they could do to get in trouble inside the den. I’m a little out in the open for kidnapping, no? Besides, I would have to be incredibly stupid to do that. The adult of the group stared at Vlad. Cas sat idly beside him letting his brother keep up the banter. You’re not saying I’m stupid are you? And this time it was Castiel’s turn to snort in laughter. He liked this mysterious visitor more every moment and Vlad seemed to take a hint as well. His spines lowered and his posture relaxed a bit, he even spoke out his name and heritage. Just for good measure? Cas didn’t really know, but didn’t bother to ask he wasn’t one for formalities. And his brother’s voice was too distracting to care, his attempted grumble squeaked out of him. Castiel felt as if he might die of a laughing fit from the things his brother was doing. Nice to meet you Vladimir and Castiel. My name is Gwaine.

Castiel brightened up at the mention of his name, Gwaine. Castiel dipped his head, And you as well Mister Gwaine! Castiel smiled brightly at the brute, his tiny ivories glittering in the light. But Vlad when back to questioning to the soldier almost immediately, and he shot a look at Vlad. Why you gotta keep asking questions? Don’t you want to go explore!? At least that’s what he was trying to convey. And Castiel heartened to hear the brute’s response, maybe he would get to explore after all! Well now, shouldn’t that be for me and him to know and you to find out? The brute teased the brother’s and smiled, Nah, your father offered me an open invitation to return a while ago. I figured now was as good a time as any to take it. Cas tilted his head slightly, open invitation? What was that? Where is he, anyway? Well darn, there went his chance to explore again. Cas glanced over his shoulder before looking back to Gwaine, He’s just a ways away. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind coming out to see an old acquaintance! Castiel turned and trotted a ways back to the den, and just before arriving at the den’s entrance he howled down through the entryway. Father! There’s someone here to see you! Castiel called cheerfully down the way, hoping his father wouldn’t be angry for them being around a stranger.
