The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Grey Wind

The brute had fallen into his role as alpha fairly easily. What most of the wolves in Abendrot did not know what that he had been raised to be an alpha. His father and mother where the King and Queen of his old home pack, they had been until war had broken out anyways. Grey Wind was the first born, and so the role of alpha would go to him when his father either died or retired. And so for the beginning of his life he had been trained to do what his father did, to lead. He had been trained in all areas of course, not just politics. From the moment he could walk, Grey Wind was trained as a warrior. He was always the best of the ones that he worked with, and it was easy for his muscles to learn what they needed to do to defend and fight for others. Before he had left his old pack, he had been trained differently than the wolves in Abendrot were. He was taught to always do what was good and just, to not judge others too hardly, to be kind whenever possible. When he was young and naïve, Grey Wind had thought this was a good way to live by. All the wolves in their pack loved his father and everyone looked up to him, so he was always Grey Wind’s best role model.

But everything had changed for him when their enemies attacked. It had been the dead of night when they had been ambushed by what they thought was their friends. Their pack was slaughtered, and Grey Wind was far too young to be able to do much damage, but he tried, defending his family and friends to the best of his ability. But when it was clear that there was no way they would come out of this alive, his mother had told him to run and to take his siblings. So the young male had done just that, but it did not take long for them to all get separated. When he was unable to find any of his siblings, he could only assume that they had been hunted down and killed. That night had changed the brute, and he knew that he would never forgive those that had destroyed his family and his home. They had destroyed everything he had, including himself. He was a different varg after that night. But now that he had found Abendrot, life had gotten better. He had found the wolves that he belonged with and found his new home here. And now that he was the alpha he was thankful for what his father had taught him when he was younger, though he was not as kind hearted as his father had trained him to be. He knew how cruel the world could be and could not forgive the world for what it had done, so he would continue to take it out on others.

His paws traveled through the trees at the borders of what was now his pack, leaving his scent upon the bushes and trees. The sun was beginning to come up, and he could feel it warming his grey pelt when it spilled through the leaves to touch the ground. Most of Abendrot was hidden in darkness, but as it was spring the leaves were not yet as full and lush as they would become, and more light came through than normal. Yellow orbs reflected the light, making his eyes seem to glow in the growing light. A how made his audettes perked, and his paws swiftly turned in the direction of the strangers vocals. As Grey Wind approached he saw the form of a female that he did not know. Another pack, Malignant Felicity, was on her pelt, and his form instinctively stiffened, though he showed no outwards signs. This was the first time that he was greeting another being as the alpha, and not as his old self. It was weird to think that Ker would not be coming, and that there was now no one for him to call to. With his banner and head held high he approached the stranger. "I am Grey Wind, Abendrot’s new Alpha. What is your name and business with this pack?” He stood a few feet away from her, waiting to see what had brought her here.

"Fight back,"He snarled.
