The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

When she was little, Isolde remembered being scared of the bright flashes of light that lit up the world when storms would ravage the plains. The rumblings from the sky woke her from her sleep and she would snuggle close to her brother for comfort. As an adult, the russet wolfess found she liked to watch the storms play out. She knew she was safe so long as she stayed underground. As lightning burst above her, she felt her heart give a little excited jolt and her tail thumped on the cave floor.

Suddenly, the girl realized she was not alone as a voice speaks behind her. Turning to see the stranger, his cynical tone not lost on her, she eyes him for a moment before answering. “I have not lived in Asteraia for many years. I knew of the storm, but didn’t feel the need to run from it.” she said, standing to shake herself again. Another clap of thunder erupted around them and she waited for the echo to stop before speaking again.

“I am Isolde. Who are you, stranger? How did you know I was once a wolf of the plains?” she asked simply. It was more for conversation than an actual desire to know who this dual toned wolf was. He had known she was a plains wolf though she had not lived in Asteraia for many years. Was her scent really that strong or was there more to this wolf then met the eye? Either way, something about him was off-putting that made her weary. Perhaps it has been the way he mocked her before or that he was alone with her in a lone cave where no one could hear should anything happen to her.
