During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

A M E I R A

Many a time had she overseen challenges while at Hercules' side, but they were planned out. Permission had to be asked and given for the challenges - which was rarely not given - and then a date was planned out for the duels. It gave the king a time period in which he was not allowed to harm Ameira, for she was required to sit at his side, both sides of the duel pledging themselves to the crown and also paying homage to the gods, through Ameira, seeing her as a connection to Tor directly. These challenges were mainly entertainment for the royalty present, though the winner was heavily rewarded with praise and often an increase in rank. The loser, depending on what the duel had been regarding and how they had fought, was either executed, or put into Hercules' ranks as a lowly foot soldier... Or on occasion sold to another pack. She had hated watching them, as often the fights were done merely to impress the King, but did her duty to save herself from abuse. It was twofold really - by sitting there, it gave her release from her prison. But it also prevented him from getting mad at her for shunning his desires.

On the rare occasion, however, she saw a different type of challenge. One that was a personal vendetta against Hercules himself, and was set up against him directly. Sometimes it was set by a single agent who worked for months to get integrated into his inner circle, in which case they set about attacking him when he was most vulnerable - when he was sleeping. But always there were vargs in the dark, ready to protect him, and those infiltrators were caught, tortured, and then annihilated in front of the court to make an example out of them. But worse, perhaps, was when a group attacked the pack. They were killed to a fault... But afterward their families were hunted down and killed to wipe out and chance of blowback in the future. After such events, she would cry throughout the night for all of the lives which were lost.

Last she had been challenged had been a few months ago, and with tending and care her wounds had healed. It had been a rather odd outcome, to be sure, for the opposing lass had yielded to her, joining her ranks as opposed to continuing the fight. She was very similar, in truth, to Ameira herself both in color and past, and the Lily saw a bright future for the lassie should she continue to be active within the pack. Artemis still had many a personal issue to deal with, for her reasons for wanting to rule the pack in the first place was to prove her worth to a laird in her past. It was not to better herself, and so Ameira knew that she dearly needed to learn how to love herself before more responsibility could be given to her. But now was not the time to think about Artemis' issues but her own. While she had taken over the pack because of her past, it was for different reasons than Artemis' had been. She wanted to form a pack that would be a safe haven for those within, a place where all would be accepted for who they were without the pressure to change themselves.

Ameira had no desire for the power that came with it, had no lust for consumption of other packs. Never would Munashii Gekko become an overbearing army of warriors while under Ameira's rule... No... She wanted everyone to do what they wanted. Plans were being made for healers, warriors, hunters, and spies. Teachers could be found somewhere, if not within her own borders, then surely within the other packs? What better way to form alliances - of which she currently had none - than to complement their own resources and use what they had at hand? Why battle the other packs when they could instead all work together, for each pack was special and unique, and had their own specific specialities. Perhaps it was a naive ideology, but it was hers and it was one that she held dearly to - a set of principles that she would fight for and not stray from. This was what was in her mind as she made her way through the packlands toward the border. The reason for keeping herself in charge of the pack was to protect those within, and those who might still come. Horizon, and his dark past as a dirtied blood kalak, made to suffer at his father's paws. Mink, seen as a cripple due to her blindness when in fact she saw more than most. Artemis and her past as already stated. And now, of course, the addition of the refugees from Bright Moon, whose home was stolen from them when aggressive bears overtook the pack. This was a place where all of these wolves, though very different, could all come together and work together and live together.

When finally she reached her contender, lilacs fell upon the laird who was just outside of her borders, waiting respectively for her. A smile lifted to her lips and she dipped her head to him. "Hello, my laird, I desire your name if you would be so good to give it to me. My own is Ameira and I am the current Queen of this pack." Crossing the border, she aimed her trail toward Quarrel's Clearing and began a leisurely stroll toward it. "I find myself assuming that you are challenging for my position, and while you surely would like to skip the chit-chat and travel directly to the pack, I first would like to inquire why you are doing so. I took this land without opposition when the previous Alpha left the lands, and those within it, to rot. The trees were stripped bare, mere skeletons, and now life has been breathed back into the land. I wish only for it to remain so, that this place is a haven for those that life has not been kind to. Never do I wish ill upon others, and I will take no pleasure in giving or receiving the wounds which shall be inflicted upon the battlefield. Though whoever would win such a battle would prove themselves more able to fight, there is more to leading than the ability to harm another." Her lips shut as her words ceased, waiting for his reply. If there was a way to resolve their issue without fight, it would be what she would prefer, however doubtful that was.

OOC - I posted this both here and at Quarrel's Clearing because I did not know where you would look first ^.^
