He is unique. He is special. He is different. These are not terrible traits. The way he is should not be seen in a negative light. Rather he should be celebrated. Perhaps had they known one another in their earlier years he may have been different than the way he is now. If she had been around him longer perhaps they could have been different together. Yet how they were now had taken some adjusting for the well-situated Alpha of Asteraia. She had been patient with him. Studying him, watching him, doing what she could to keep him comforted and happy, well, she called ‘happy.’ For such a quiet creature he was quite particular about things. Adapting to his sudden mood swings was challenging at first, but over time and thanks to their soul connection, she was able to endure and last far longer than most wolves. She did not try to change him, but she changed herself if only to connect to him more and show him that he did not have to roam this world all alone...someone could understand him. Yet she wasn’t sure if he had noticed or not, but she tried, and that was all she could do.
As a creature that was highly self-aware it was a tad bit challenging to be connected to a beast that was hardly aware of such normal and customary things. For a girl that so longed to be connected to another, to know what it was like to be cared for or loved seemed highly impossible in her reality the older she got. Perhaps Fate decided to trick her into believing they sent her a gift of being attached to a being like herself...but he was unlike herself as well, which perhaps was the sneaky trick that Fate seemed too happy to play on her. Yet she accepted it, dealt with it as best as she could, and now she had come to accept that perhaps was she desperately longed for may never come true at all. She had told their son when he questioned her on her love for Tobias, and she told the boy that we all get the love we deserve and perhaps...what she said was true. For all the wicked things she had done in the past, for a creature cursed as a Monster – she was given the chance to love, but never to experience it from another.
Quietly she laid there, her back pressed firmly into the ground, dark sapphire eyes looking up at the white blazing stars that littered the opaque sky. The silence between them was rather comforting, never awkward or prickly. The breathing between them is soft, relaxed, both of their obsidian forms still. Her eyes would shift towards him, watching him as he remained eerily quieter than usual. She could feel her soul calling to his own, serenading him, relishing in the fact that she was so very close to her counterpart. She is content, she is happy, even if he has not answered her question yet. Yet she can feel him, feel him curb away the agitation he feels for her daring to ask him to think on a different level than he was most comfortable with. It is when he speaks and utters the word ‘stars’ that causes the Monster’s cold-heart to suddenly stop beating from the shock. She is...pleased, thankful, her soul overwhelmed that he had not only understood, but made an effort to try for her...just for her. She whispers softly, her voice filled with appreciation.
“Thank you, Tobias.”
Her cold heart swells as it suddenly warms. The very thought that the True Demon of Moladion was capable of doing something, for someone else, for trying to connect with her in such a way was quite endearing. He had attempted something new, something difficult, just for her...and that in itself was extremely satisfying and she was ever so grateful of such a thing. Slowly she would turn over and lay herself on her stomach, her muzzle gently brushing against his own, pink tongue sliding out as she licked his cheek and jaw. Fireflies began to come out for one last flight until Autumn would take them away, their lights twinkling just as much as the stars above. She is not one that allows herself to open up and make herself vulnerable, but for a moment she would tear down her walls and open herself up to him. Whether he noticed it or not. Sapphire eyes, with intense violet flecks, looked into reptilian emerald eyes of his own, as she whispers gently speaking the words he may not be able to utter or understand, or express in a similar way as she would. After all – he said it in his own way.
“Tobias, I love you, just as you are.”
With a tender nuzzle she would lay her dial over his chest and sigh in content. Her soul singing as she curled her frame up against his own, enjoying this rare moment to be at such peace.
